Have a happy and safe 4th of July! If you light fireworks in your neighborhood, please understand what you are putting some dogs and veterans through. We can't imagine how scared the animals (domestic and wildlife) and humans with PTSD are. Please put other's peace of mind before your need to light fireworks. We want all of the animals to be safe in their homes and our veterans to have a safe space. Please read the below and share this post. 🐾💜

As you are getting ready to celebrate Memorial Day with your bbqs and get togethers, please remember why you are able to do these things... a soldier lost their life. Thank you to our military members human and canine that allow me to have my freedom. I respect you and the service that you gave.

Paws 4 A Cure wishes everyone a safe and relaxing Memorial Day as we reflect and honor our service women, men and dogs to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and security. While you may be out at a BBQ celebrating a day off from work, we ask that you please be respectful of those that have lost a family member or friend that did not come home. They might need a hug or someone to talk to. Be that person to offer a shoulder to lean on. Rest easy soldiers, thank you for your service.

From a dear friend of Paws 4 A Cure:
"For more than 15 years I've been honored to help pet parents navigate the painful experience of Pet Loss after losing my own heart dog Georgia to cancer in 2006. I've been a volunteer staff member of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement since 2010 and offering pet loss support at my veterinary clinic since 2013. Now, I'm excited to also be partnering with Forum - Online Peer Support Groups to facilitate a weekly virtual Pet Loss Support group that will give people from all over the US the opportunity to receive real-time peer-based support & coaching to help them through their grief. Starting in March, we'll be meeting via Zoom on Wednesday evenings, with other groups to be added as needed. If you know anyone who is struggling with the loss of a beloved companion and could use some individualized support, please let them know that help is available and they are not alone."

See more details and to sign up for the Zoom call at the link below. Please be aware that the zoom call is Central time zone.

Misconceptions Can Hurt Those In Need
We have heard the reason why some people do not donate to Paws 4 A Cure is because - if the person cannot afford to care for their pet, they should not have one. The majority of our applicants are hardworking people that came upon hard times financially when their pet had an illness or injury that treatment is outside of what they could afford, a senior citizen or U.S. veteran that is on a fixed income, a disabled adult or child’s service dog, or a person that has high medical bills due of their own when their dog or cat became injured or sick. Often, a person might have acquired a dog or cat prior to his or her becoming disabled. Until you are in their position you cannot understand how hard it was for these people to apply for assistance. We at Paws 4 A Cure, and all recipients, are forever grateful to the many supporters who have so generously contributed to help pets in need receive their much-needed medical care. For those who might not have donated for the reason above, we hope that our explanation will help to clarify and will encourage you to be a part of this amazing group of Paws 4 A Cure supporters who step up to help these beloved fur babies to enjoy more quality time with their loving families. There will always be a need and a time to lend someone a hand by helping them through a painfully difficult time. Won't you join us in our mission to help as many as we can? We promise you that it will warm your heart.

The testimonials link below are from the pet parents of our Paws Recipients, veterinary practices and donors that Paws 4 A Cure has had the pleasure to work with. We ask you to visit the Testimonials page to hear from those that the donations have helped. http://www.paws4acure.org/testimonials.php
