This beautiful girl has been having Physiotherapy to rehabilitate her after she had a ‘femoral head and neck ostectomy’. This surgery aims to restore pain-free mobility to a damaged hip. This is done by removing the head and neck of the femur. This beauty is doing really well and thanks to her brilliant owners completing all their homework I’ve set, she’s on the road to a full recovery. 🐱

⚠️WARNING WHEN FREEZING TREAT TOYS
Please ensure that if you are stuffing treat toys and freezing them for your pets to help keep them cool, dont forget to ensure there is a HOLE ALL OF THE WAY THROUGH IT.
WHY YOU MAY ASK ?
Toys such as Kongs have 2 holes in their toys for a reason - TO PREVENT SUCTION.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT ?
When your pet licks at the contents of the toy or squeezes it in its mouth, their tongue can get SUCKED into the hole and get STUCK on the dogs tongue and cause horrific injuries to the point where the animal can actually die.
Having 2 HOLES in the toy PREVENTS this from happening.
So if you STUFF your toys with treats, push a straw through it to ensure the 2 HOLES ARE NOT BLOCKED.
If you are going to FREEZE the toy, do so with the straw in place and then REMOVE the straw before giving it to your pet.
So when buying your pet toys, please keep this in mind.
Hope this little tip helps you keep your animals safe!

KEEP YOUR DOGS INSIDE!
People taking their dogs to events in this weather should be ashamed! This is where dogs belong in the heatwave!

“HEATSTROKE IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY”
I’m compelled to keep posting this. I’ve learned of a number of dogs that have died of heatstroke in the recent heatwave.
If you see a horse or person or dog with heatstroke, then cool them down by hosing/spraying water from the outside or house water supply (usually 10-20°C). It doesn't have to be ice-cold to be effective as long as you put a lot on. You may well save a life!
And yes, I know there is a lot of advice about cooling horses, dogs and people which goes against aggressive cooling and advises ice packs in the groin or armpit and using tepid water! It's outdated and ineffective and if you follow it your horse/dog/person is more likely to suffer permanent injury or worse!
If you don't believe me, then listen to the people who do this for a living with people...
"Active cooling via Cold Water Immersion (CWI) is now the standard of care and should be done immediately. This is a Grade IA recommendation.5 The patient should be immersed in ice water 1 to 3°C." http://www.emdocs.net/heat-related-illness-how-to-cool-em-and-what-to-do-after/

This beautiful mare has recently started rehab following stifle medication. I originally treated a few months ago but was unhappy with her movement so referred her back to the first opinion Vets. She was then sent on to the brilliant for further investigations. She’s now back in work and doing well 💪🏻

Also had the pleasure of treating this gorgeous mare today. I regularly see her to keep her feeling on top form , and as you can see here she’s FLYING around, making these jumps look easy! (Count me out!!)

Spent the afternoon at .dressage treating two lovely liveries. Both of these horses I’ve treated for a while now, with both having maintenance treatments for very different reasons. One who unfortunately had a traumatic accident leading to a wither injury, and the other who is competing successfully with the lovely

Don’t let Sprocket spend her 16th birthday without a home 💔
This lovely lady came to us when her own sadly passed away. She’s super affectionate, is very vocal, and loves the company of people. Her affection towards humans makes it even more sad that she’s in our care and not in a home 🏡
Sprocket has hyperthyroidism and therefore needs tablets for the rest of her life, but she’s no fuss and eats them in her food. We will help towards the cost of this medication if her adopter requires us too.
Sprocket needs an indoor home as she is hard of hearing and this will be much safer for her.
If you, or someone you know is looking for the company of a lovely cat please get in touch! 📧 [email protected]
Let’s fine Sprocket a home before Christmas 🎄

This beautiful gelding is currently undergoing Veterinary Physiotherapy treatment after some time off. I’m working to make him feel his best so he can get back to competing!

This lovely boy is currently undergoing treatment with the brilliant team at for a couple of different issues. Whilst currently showing signs of back discomfort I recommended the use of heat at regular intervals throughout the day. Hot water bottles do the trick perfectly. Have a look at this very long hot water bottle along his back!

We had a cat brought into our Ipswich branch on Saturday, unfortunately she has no microchip or collar. She is an older girl but very sweet and friendly and was found at Ipswich High School. She is now at our Woodbridge Surgery, please share this post and get in contact with us if you have any information so hopefully we can get back her home🏡

This lovely boy is an ex racer who has since turned his hoof to dressage, and is doing great! He has regular maintenance treatments to keep him feeling great, and to fix any problems he may have from playing rather adventurously in the field with his mates! 🤍

Treatment the gorgeous Laragh and this week. I see Laragh for maintenance treatment at least every 6 weeks, to keep her feeling her best. I’ve recently been helping with her rehabilitation and exercise plans after having her hocks injected. Looking forward to seeing how they get on for the rest of the season 💪🏻🌟

BIG BIG BIG announcement ....
The long awaited children's book is now available!
Written with the intention to reduce misinterpretation of canine behaviour and to avoid dogs being "labelled" and even rehomed or euthanased due to unexpected behaviour change/ aggressive like behaviour due to underlying but unidentified pain.
I have been a vet for nearly 20 years and have put to sleep a fair share of dogs that families no longer trusted because they had unexpectedly lashed out. I suspect many of these dogs had underlying conditions explaining their actions, but sadly it was too late to investigate as the family had made up their mind. Broke and still breaks my heart that when our dogs need us to listen we fail to hear them!
The book is beautifully illustrated by an amazing man called Phil Knibs who did it for CAM at no charge because he LOVES dogs and what they bring us!
It is available in the CAM online shop here -
https://www.camonlineshop.com/why-dont-you-listen-book/
At £8.99 I really feel it is a book that should be in every family home.
My daydream is a big company like a pharmaceutical company will see merit in it and supply it with every prescription of pain relieving medication.... but till then....I hope you guys will get behind it and buy one or many!!!
Please support CAM changing lives ###
