I started breeding and showing Russians in 1987.I show first. I bought my first girl from a breeder who lived in Birmingham,Alabama. I went to her home and there I saw her cattery and there was these four little Russian babies running around. They were going up and down a Christmas tree, they were just full of energy. I just stood there looking at them, because to me they all looked a like. Then
this little kitten came running up to me, I bend down and picked it up and it started purring and rubbing all over me. But in my head I was telling my self, this is the baby who is going home with me, no matter what!! The breeder started picking up each kitten and looking at them and then she ask me to hand her the one I was holding. I gave it to her, she handed it back to me and said. That was Katie!! My first show/breeder Russian and she pick ME! That is how I got started it was Katie and I and going to shows. I learn a lot by educating myself on dos and don't of other's mistakes just by hearing what they had to say. And of course my mistakes as well...
The most important thing to me here at my cattery is that when I sell a kitten. That my baby is well socialize and" HEALITHY". I have to like the new parents, most important!! money is nice but happiness of my kittens is very important thing to me. I put in a lot of time and care and there have been many of tears shed over raising my kittens. So they just don't go out the door to just anyone. To me their like my child, I wouldn't let a child go over just any body's house!! When my babies leave me they think their name is "baby" and they know what a kiss is..lol...They get lots from me!! I have NEVER seen an ugly Russian kitten they are all cute to me:)). I like to consider myself a good, careing breeder. My cattery is well kept and clean and my cats have a great vet,Br,Brooks, Blue Ridge Animal Clinic. Montgomery,Al. One thing I'm not good at is answering the phone, but I am great at answering e-mail:))
I still show my cats, I don't find that it is so important any more. Titles are nice, but cats don't care about them and I have them in my pedigrees. But, I like to see some of my friends. I'm very honest about my cats!
