Meet Maggie!

Maggie is described as a beautiful girl who loves to snuggle especially under blankets, she adores human attention and will roll onto her back for belly rubs. She enjoys games of tug a war, fetch and ball. This girl is a massive water baby and loves swimming especially out at the weir.

She is a very active girl who loves to get out and about on daily walks and play out in the backyard.

Maggie currently lives with a male Great Dane who she is amazing with but has been reactive to other dogs. She is currently living with children aged 8 & 9 which she is good with. Not tested with cats.

She is an indoor/outdoor dog and is toilet trained.
She knows basic commands such as “sit, stay, lay down”. While on walks she does pull on lead due to excitement.
She would love a home where she has a human home more often than not.

Meet Boof! He is a loveable goofball with loads of energy. He loves to cuddle, going on runs and walks to the dog park.

He is good with other dogs. Non cat tested. He is good with kids but is a bit boisterous. He is an indoor/outdoor dog. He is toilet trained and walks well on lead.

Boot’s ideal new home looks like a family who has a big property or someone who has time for walks/runs and trips to the dog park. Someone who wants love of love in return.

Meet Jess! This girl is an old soul who loves belly rubs, walks and loads of attention. She would benefit from having someone who wants a real lap dog and an indoor companion. She loves toys and the ball.

She is good with other dogs. Unfortunately not suited to cats. Good with older kids, not tested with younger children. She is an indoor/outdoor dog who prefers indoors. She is toilet trained. She is good on lead but can pull if not walked regularly. Knows basic commands.

Jess has an allergy to crusher dust. Fine with normal dirt, grass and everything else.

When families come back to adopt a second ✨

Earlier in the year, Edna was adopted and a little while later we were contacted by her Dad to express his interest in Arti after seeing he was still waiting for a forever home.

A few days later, Arti started his trial and as usual, sported his resting grumpy face for his adoption photo! 😆

It took a few days for Edna to adjust to no longer being the only child but now all is well and Arti has officially been adopted!

This lady is fun and quirky who is extremely intelligent, a quick learner and very inquisitive. She showcases the best qualities of both her breeds.

Winnie loves dogs, kids and every human that she meets. She would be suited to most family situations providing she gets enough exercise. While she is not currently cat tested, this is something that can arranged if required.

She has basic obedience training but is something that will need to be continued. She is currently learning to walk nicely on leash.

Good morning ☀️

Our 8 young female rats who were part of a large rehoming mission from a research facility have well and truly settled into domestic life.

4 girls have gone to foster carers while the remaining 4 stay at BSAR for more handling & socialisation.

They are sweet, gentle and inquisitive and we can’t wait to watch them continue to blossom 😍

Working overtime at the biscuit factory 🥨

Teeny is one of the most affectionate cats we’ve had in care for quite a while. She is a very human oriented girl and is sure to be the apple of her human’s eye.

She doesn’t like sharing her space with others so is looking for a home in a low stress environment as a solo animal with no young children please

Our senior girl Gypsy is still seeking her perfect ‘retirement’ home.

She enjoys spending her days lounging around the house, finding the best spot for naps. She does still enjoy games of fetch in the backyard and can keep herself entertained with toys. She appreciates getting out and about in the car for adventures and going on brisk walks to keep her active.

She is a very human oriented girl who sadly does not suit families who work fulltime.

Gypsy is absolutely wonderful with children and is extremely gentle. She is also cat social. After recent meets with families and their dogs, she has shown us clear signs she would like to be an only dog now in her older years.

She is toilet trained, has excellent manners and is non destructive.

Introducing our very special new arrivals 🐀

Our 8 beautiful girls from the Research Facility in Sydney arrived at BSAR early this afternoon.

So far they are settling in to domestic life rather well and showing us how inquisitive they are.

We would like to send a very special Thank you to the team at Liberty Foundation who made this all possible. Another Thank you to Tam who transported these girls all the way from Sydney across Victoria 🥰

While we eagerly await the arrival of our 8 ratties girls tomorrow from the research facility, we have received a generous donation from Vetafarm of their Rodent Origins.

We have been feeding Rodents Origins for over 5 years now and is the only food we use and recommend for all our rats.

We are so grateful for this donation as it means we are able to provide our foster carers with ample food 🙏🏻

Meet Sol! Seeking a breed experienced home.

He is a gentle giant who loves to play ball and lounge around the house. He is a big people dog and loves to sleep in the bed with you if allowed. Due to the fact he is a people dog, he is best suited to a family who doesn’t work fulltime.

He knows basic commands and is easily trainable, he is eager to please. He is an indoor/outdoor dog and is fully toilet trained.

Sol is sadly not suited to live with other animals. Secure fencing is a must.

He is good with active children, however can knock little ones over as he doesn’t realise his size.

Cooper came to BSAR in 2017 as a young man, he showed incredible potential and when he was placed for adoption we were adamant on finding a home who could help him reach that potential.

He was later adopted by a husband and wife who had a female Labrador and were actively involved in a kennel club.

Fast forward to 2024, he has won many awards with his most recent being a Bravo award for the highest scoring rescue dog at a recent ACSW (Australian Canine Scent Work) trial.

We are so proud of this boy and grateful for the amazing life his adoptive home have provided him 🥰

This handsome fella is Calvin! He is a loveable boy who likes to play with his squeaky pig toy and going for walks. He also loves to give kisses and cuddles.

Calvin is best suited as an only dog. He doesn’t mind cats and does sleep with them sometimes. He is good with kids, but can knock little ones over from excitement.

He is a mostly outdoor dog who comes inside on occasion. He is toilet trained and knows basic commands.

Recently, our beautiful Weeny left to start her new life with her forever family, and has settled in so beautifully. Her Mum has said “after the first night, it was like she has been here forever”.

She has come such a long way from when she first arrived in care, badly burnt after her home burnt down. Apart from some minor “cosmetic damage”, she has recovered perfectly.

This girl holds a special place in our hearts and we are so happy for her 🥰
