My name is Verity Smith and I have recently formed "Christchurch Dog Walking", a new business in IP4. I am a qualified veterinary nurse, working at Orwell Veterinary Group for eight years before becoming a mother. . Before I walk a dog, I feel it is of paramount importance to meet you and your dog together so I can learn more about your dog's individual and personalised needs. It is extremely beneficial for me to go for a short walk with you and your dog to enable me to understand their walking habits. Furthermore, it offers me an opportunity to chat with you in detail about your expectations and preferences for your dog's walk; for example, whether you wish for them to be kept on the lead for the entire walk. After our initial meeting and walk together, I will be more than happy to walk your dog, giving it my full attention whilst in my care. I offer group walks (no more than four dogs at a time) or one-on-one walks depending on your individual needs. My family currently puppy walk for Guide Dogs for the Blind whereby we care for a Guide Dog from six weeks until they are approximately one year's old when they leave us to go on to Guide Dog training school. We are currently caring for our fourth puppy “Elvie” who is a lovely ten month old yellow Labrador. The previous three puppies we have looked after have all gone on to be fully qualified Guide Dogs. It is not easy giving up these wonderful dogs when they are a year old, but it is very rewarding when you hear how they have gone on to change somebody’s life for the better. The aim of my business is to make your life easier and less stressful by knowing that your dog is in safe, caring hands whilst being walked when you are unable to. I am fully aware your dog is an important member of your family and I will endeavour to treat it as if it were one of my own.
