Still need help finding this guy either a part or full time foster Or his forever home!! He lives with dogs and cats, has been in a house around multiple kids with no issues, house and crate trained, etc. Basically a perfect, easy dog!! He just needs to be moved b/c the resident dogs are all experiencing multiple health issues and it’s not fair to anyone in the house.

Guten Tag! My name is Gunter and even though that means "warrior", in my world it means "funny gunny bunny"! My foster mom says I'm great with other dogs, especially younger dogs because older dogs are just not into playing as much as I am! I love my cat foster brother too! I absolutely love going to doggy daycare on the weekends to hang out with all my friends. I never meet a stranger! I'm good with kiddos as well, but I like to wrestle and use my paws, so could scratch or accidentally hurt a little one. I'm proud to say I kennel well, can sit on command, sleep through the night, ride well in a car, am food motivated for easy training, and am potty trained. I'm a typical velcro doggy who REALLY loves my people! If you've got the squeaky toys and are ready to play fetch, we will get along just great! Email your phone number to [email protected] for more info. I come to you neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative!

I’ve been remiss in not posting this sooner, as we’ve had a few people ask, but regrettably we will not have Santa photos this year.

We’ve loved bringing the best Santa Paws set up I’ve ever seen to Central Arkansas for almost a decade and know that so many people are disappointed in its absence this year.

As some of you know, I adopted a newborn in Dec 2020 and have spent the past few years, with my team’s help, scaling back our rescue operation in order to focus more on being a mom to my little guy.

We do still have a handful of animals up for adoption and are committed to caring for them until they are adopted and, if they aren’t adopted, we will care for them for life.

Please continue to share our animals and donate as you can for the ones in our care and our continued support in the community as we spay and neuter animals in need.

This isn’t a goodbye, it’s just a step back to focus on a new beginning. Including a pic of my little guy because he’s the only thing in the past 12+ years to make me seriously consider making such a major change (and he’s pretty damn cute)!

The Rock City Rescue team is wishing all of our family and friends out there a safe and enjoyable holiday season full of everything you want!

Today, we are keeping all of our family and friends in our thoughts, especially all of our rescue friends and family in the Northeast. Some of you lost loved ones on this day and you experienced this tragedy in a way that many of us could never imagine. We love and appreciate every single one of you and hold you close in our hearts today.

Please get this information out to as many people you can today. The combination of heat and humidity is very dangerous today and an "excessive heat warning" is in effect for much of AR.

Take care of yourself, your neighbor, and your pets!!!

Another great tip for the 4th of july fireworks!!!

Make sure you put down your area code and that the painters tape is secured for just in case they run off they can easily be found and returned ! The best options are keeping them inside, but if by chance your pet runs out or off this could be a great help of finding them quickly and safely!

HELPFUL TIPS FOR FEARFUL PUPS AND 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS!
Fireworks are a popular activity during the Independence Day celebrations in the United States. Many dogs are scared of the noises from fireworks, so this holiday can become very stressful for dogs and their owners. If this sounds familiar, we have some ideas and tips to help.

8 tips for helping a dog scared of fireworks:
1. Use sound training to relieve dog fireworks anxiety. Use online resources to play the sounds of fireworks at lower volumes while rewarding your pup. Spend time getting used to the sounds.
2. Try a dog anxiety vest. Snug garments provide slight pressure on the body and can reduce anxiety.
3. Schedule a workout before the fireworks. If your dog is mentally and physically exhausted, they will be more at ease.
4 Take care of the routine needs earlier. Bring your dog out for a bathroom break before the sun goes down to avoid them needing to be outside during the fireworks.
5. Keep your dog busy during the fireworks. Use a Kong or another toy that keeps them busy and gives them something to focus on.
6. Muffle the noise. Keep your windows closed and turn on some things that help mask the noise of the fireworks.
7 Comfort your dog. It’s appropriate and helpful to comfort your dogs when they are afraid.
8 Talk to a professional. Your vet might have some ideas and resources for you to try to help your dog.

PLEASE REMEMBER people with fireworks can’t handle just shooting them off JUST on the 4th of July. They have them in hand so they will be going off randomly every day for at least the next week!

Make sure your dogs have collars and tags on at all times! Please leash walk them even in your backyard!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO FIREWORKS SHOWS!!!

DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO KEEP THEM SAFE JUST LIKE YOU WOULD A HUMAN CHILD!

STAY SAFE AND LEAVE YOUR DOGS AT HOME WITH THE TV OR RADIO ON LOUDLY WHEN YOU LEAVE!

They do not understand the suddenly loud bombs going off to their hyper sensitive hearing.

THIS IS ALL ON US AS PET PARENTS! NO EXCUSES!

🔥 EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY!!! 🔥

Please stay safe and be on the lookout for people and animals in distress!

Leave your pets at home and indoors (do not leave them in a car!) and if they go for walks, walk early AM or late PM before the pavement is hot enough to burn their pads. Please keep pets protected indoors as much as possible during the day. If pets must be outdoors, make sure they have plenty of shade, ventilation, and fresh water. Water should be kept in a shaded area and changed often as it can heat up and be too hot to drink, especially if left in direct sunlight.

If you let your pets play in kiddie pools, check that water frequently as well to make sure it hasn't gotten too hot.

If you know of any animals without these necessities, please call your local animal control, and be persistent, they depend on you.

While you’re at it, check on your elderly neighbors. We all need to look out for each other. ♥️

Stay safe and keep cool!

🚨🚨🚨
It could all be gone in 6 minutes.

If a dog's internal temperature goes above 105.8°F it is at risk of heatstroke, which only 50% of dogs survive. It doesn't have to be boiling hot for this to happen either – when it's 71.6°F outside, the inside of a car can easily reach 116.6°F within an hour.

Don’t let your quick trip turn into the longest few minutes of your dog’s life.

A dangerous pro-puppy mill bill has passed the Arkansas legislature and now heads to Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders' desk. We need your help to stop it TODAY! HB 1591 is an attack on animals, consumers and local control. It would protect and promote Petland, an Ohio corporation with a cruel business model, at the expense of Arkansas communities.

At a time when so many Arkansas shelters are overwhelmed, the state should not be forcing communities to accept the import of puppy mill puppies. This bill protects a cruel industry while harming animals and consumers who are so often wronged by the puppy-mill-to-pet-store pipeline.

Arkansas residents have an opportunity to use our voices to urge Gov. Huckabee Sanders to veto this dangerous bill and make a difference for animals across the state.
Animals need YOUR voice! Please call Gov. Huckabee Sanders TODAY at 501-682-2345 and politely urge her to veto HB 1591 to protect puppies and Arkansas consumers.

You can say: "As an Arkansas resident, I’m calling to urge you to veto the dangerous pro-puppy mill bill, HB 1591."

A wide range of studies demonstrate how pet ownership can improve mental health and wellbeing in children. Specifically:

🐶Attachment to pets can promote healthy social development, social competence, increased social interaction, improved social communication, and social play in children.
🐶Childhood pets can be perceived to be nonjudgmental, confidential, and accepting sources of support.
🐶Pets can be perceived as presenting their feelings authentically in the moment and being more forgiving than humans.

And what better way to make long-lasting memories than with a furry best friend?
