This Day In Movie History 1932 - Rin Tin Tin, American Hollywood shepherd dog (Clash of the Wolves), dies at 13.

Rin Tin Tin or Rin-Tin-Tin (September 1918 – August 10, 1932) was a male German Shepherd born in Flirey, France, who became an international star in motion pictures. He was rescued from a World War I battlefield by an American soldier, Lee Duncan, who nicknamed him "Rinty." Duncan trained Rin Tin Tin and obtained silent film work for the dog. Rin Tin Tin was an immediate box-office success and went on to appear in 27 Hollywood films, gaining worldwide fame. Along with the earlier canine film star Strongheart, Rin Tin Tin was responsible for greatly increasing the popularity of German Shepherd dogs as family pets. The immense profitability of his films contributed to the success of Warner Bros. studios and helped advance the career of Darryl F. Zanuck from screenwriter to producer and studio executive.

Chiquita is way too skinny! You can practically every bone in her body. She took treats very excitedly because of this and ate them as fast as she could. I feel so bad for her! She is super friendly and happy despite her situation- just look at that smile through the kennel! Once her treat time was over and it wasn’t her turn anymore she became quite vocal, I wish wishing I had a big plate of food to serve to her, I’m sure she’d stop being vocal then!🤤

We have a LOT of people who tell us their dogs have a "pinched nerve" or " bulging disc". So we want to clarify things. What exactly is "pinching" your dog's nerves? The answer is simple: A Degenerated Disc. A pinched nerve is nothing but a degenerated disc that is ready to "pop" at any moment (degeneration/prolapse). Your dog is VERY lucky you detected this early, took it to the vet, and started crate rest and medicines at this point. It might just stop the degeneration in time to avoid it from becoming a full herniation (extrusion/sequestration). Your dogs have a condition that causes discs to be weaker than normal, so any little bit of impact added to that "bulging disc" or "pinched nerve" COULD result in an extrusion of disc material. Please, PLEASE, do not minimize the seriousness of your dog's condition just because the vet did not use the word herniation.

Boy was a white hunting poodle belonging to Prince Rupert of the Rhine. The dog was a rare breed of white hunting poodle and was a gift from the Earl of Arundel to Prince Rupert to keep him company during his confinement as a prisoner during the Thirty Years' War. Boy accompanied Rupert during his travels all over Europe and became quite famous; the Ottoman Sultan Murad IV requested that his ambassador attempt to find him a similar animal.

Boy accompanied Rupert into battle during the English Civil War and was widely suspected of being a witch's familiar. There were numerous accounts of Boy's supernatural abilities; Parliamentary propaganda suggested that he was the Devil in disguise.

Royalist soldiers promoted Boy, as their adopted mascot, to the rank of sergeant major general, and he is recorded as the first official British Army dog.

Boy died during the Battle of Marston Moor in 1644. He had been left safely tied up in the Royalist camp, but escaped and chased after Rupert. The battle went badly for the Royalists, and Rupert was forced to flee the field; Boy was killed during the ensuing fighting.
