A little over 7 months ago I had to say goodbye to my dear Sadie, my life partner for 14 years and 4 months.
When a loved animal companion is sick and nearing the end of their life, the love and support of family and friends and help from caring and skilled professionals is essential.
I want to share and recommend some of the resources I was blessed to have.
Dr. Melissa Berman and her team at The Veterinary Hospital on Silver Ln in Eugene provided me incredibly compassionate care and regular support as we sought to make Sadie as comfortable as possilbe in her last days. Dana Panduro, the practice manager at the Veterinary Hospital coordinated Sadie's care with Dr. Berman and I helping me navigate the financial aspects of caring for a loved one. All of this done with the greatest care and compassion.

Dr. Lindsey McAlister from Heart in Home Mobile Veterinary Services was a calm and compassionate presence and support on the day I said goodbye to my girl. I am incredbily grateful to have been able to say goodbye in our home and to have had the grounded, respectful and caring support of Dr. McAlister.
