Mission Statement

Team Rocky Enterprises Inc is a national 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of Great Danes, Great Dane mixes, and other breeds that have been abused, neglected and/or abandoned. We are also dedicated to the education of pet guardians and citizens as to the needs of domesticated animals to maintain balanced

healthy lives. We were founded in honor and memory of Rocky the Great Dane, whom we tried desperately to save in June 2013. Despite all of our efforts and offers of rehabilitation, he was irresponsibly and needlessly euthanized on June 12, 2013. Every dog that enters our rescue will be provided with the care and love that Rocky was denied. For those of you who don't know Rocky's story, please keep reading. Rocky was a 3 year old Great Dane that was owner surrendered June 1, 2013 to the Hernando County Animal Shelter in Brooksville, Florida for biting the owner's boyfriend and requested euthanization after 10 day quarantine. This same owner adopted Rocky from this same shelter in May 2010. He was brought in at that time with a female Great Dane named Emma. In May 2010, a rescue tagged Rocky and Emma for rescue, but while awaiting transport the shelter allowed Rocky and Emma to be adopted out separately thus cancelling all rescue efforts. We had rescue ready again to take Rocky after the adopter from May 2010 owner surrendered him, and he would have gone to a wonderful ranch on 7 acres that was completely fenced in. He would have been the only dog in the fenced in area and been rehabilitated to be the Great Dane he was meant to be. We offered our rescue services to the vet on site at Hernando County Animal Shelter and they refused. They refused our animal behavior specialists entrance to assess him. Unfortunately, our fight to save Rocky from euthanization by having him properly assessed, rescued and rehabilitated were ignored. Because of Rocky's untimely end, Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab was created to rescue, rehab, and re-home Great Danes, Great Dane mixes, and other giant breeds that have been abused, neglected, and/or abandoned. Additionally, our journey has led us to the education of pet gaurdians and citizens as to the needs of domesticated animals to maintain balanced, healthy lives; subsequently, this helps reduce overpopulation in shelters, especially high-kill shelters. Thank you for reading about Rocky and our organization's origin, please share and repost as much as you can. Rocky passed on June 12, 2013. 🚧HASHBROWN-FOSTER NEEDED🚧

Location - Oklahoma City, OK
Foster within 8 hour radius

EUTH DATE —> JAN 14 2025

Hashbrown is a really nervous boy at the shelter. The shelter staff are having a hard time handling him and he is snapping at them. However, a volunteer went to meet him an hour ago and didn’t have any issues. We have a video if anyone is interested.

He is only 2 years old. Neutered already. He is currently sick with an upper respiratory infection so proper cleaning and isolation would be needed from foster. He has a kennel mate so he is dog friendly.

Any lifesavers able to help him? Let us know ASAP. Please put in an application below.

•♥ FOSTER OR ADOPT JOJO ♥•
📍San Antonio, TX (We can transport nationwide)

Hi there! My name’s Jojo, and I’m an affectionate, well-mannered girl who’s ready to bring love, loyalty, and plenty of fun into your life!

I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and an expert at being left out alone—I’m as chill as they come. When you’re out and about, I’m the perfect co-pilot, especially on car rides or trips to dog-friendly stores. I’ve mastered my basic commands, and I walk nicely on a leash, so whether we’re running errands or strolling around the neighborhood, I’ll be right by your side.

Speaking of walks, I absolutely love them—especially with a long lead so I can sniff, explore, and chase lizards or squirrels. Watching the world go by from the window is another favorite pastime of mine.

I do have a few special requests for my forever home: I need to be the only dog, and cats aren’t really my thing since I have a high prey drive. But don’t worry—I’ll make up for it by showering you with all the love and snuggles you could ever want. I’m a world-class cuddler and will nudge you for more pets if you stop too soon!

I thrive on meeting new people and adore kids, making me a friendly and social companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, well-behaved dog who’s as happy on the couch as she is on an adventure, I just might be the one for you. I’ve been here far too long so I have a super duper low adoption fee!!

Let’s meet soon—I can’t wait to become your new best friend!

Love,
Jojo 🐾

The New Year Has Been Tough, but We Won’t Give Up!

Since January 1st, we've been hit with over $8,500 in vet bills and are bracing for another $1,850 next week. Emergencies keep coming, along with the cost of spays, neuters, and vaccines. But the need doesn’t stop—and neither will we.

❄️🥶We’re already seeing pleas for rescue help as harsh weather sweeps across the nation. Dogs and puppies are out there, vulnerable and alone, in the cold, snow, and even wildfire zones. We want to be ready to step in—but we need your support to make it possible. Without funding, we can’t reach these precious lives that are depending on us. For every $10 donation, we will enter you in a drawing for a Team Rocky tee! What’s better than helping these dogs and rocking some merch!

Let’s take a took at next week’s appointments:

Gia: $150 spay
Last call at the shelter saved 1 day before euthanasia

Darcy: $200 spay
Last call at shelter saved 1 day before euthanasia, along with her siblings

Ronald: $300 neuter and vaccines
Saved from shelter

Liv: $100 spay
Saved from neglect, was living outside under a car while the small dogs got to live inside

Lylah: $200 vaccines and hwt
Was abandoned by her owners at a spay clinic and never picked back up. She was living outside in the snow until she came into rescue

Shiva: $200 spay and vaccines
We saved her puppies from an accidental litter, a few of the puppies had parvo. As part of our community outreach and assistance, we are spaying mom so she never has another litter again!

Tank: $250 neuter and vaccines
Surrendered for being too rambunctious

Cypress: $250 vaccines
Accidental litter

Vegas: $200 annual vaccines
Vegas has been with us for over a year, returned multiple times due to no fault of his. Once these vaccines are completed, he is off to his forever home! This time for good 🤞🏼

Please note the dog you’d like to sponsor in your donation!

✖️URGENT FOSTER NEEDED - JACK✖️

Location: Weatherford, Texas
Possible transport options

3 years old, neutered

Jack is serving a bite quarantine at the shelter and needs a place lined up ASAP. The bite happened when a toddler tripped over Jack when he was on the ground sleeping. When she tripped she fell on his face. He was startled and bit her once and then ran away upset knowing it was wrong.

His family is heartbroken but will not be bringing Jack back home. They say he is an excellent dog. He can be a little shy at first and doesn’t like when strangers try and get in his face but that’s all dogs! We are looking for a home with kids 12+.

He is dog friendly and lived with a dominant aussiedoodle and they played hard and were fast friends. The dog test at the shelter went well too. The shelter brought him into the cat room and he sniffed a few but ran back when they hissed at him.

Jack is house trained and a good well mannered boy in the house. He hates the crate but can be left to free roam. He also was taught to not beg by the kitchen table for human snacks.

Please let us know if you can bring Jack into your home and be a life saver.

Our foster for this sweet senior backed out! We have tagged him and he arrives in Dallas THIS WEEKEND!! If we do not find him a place he will be at risk.

He is 7-8 years old. Male. Not neutered yet. Heartworm negative (yay!) does have a tick disease that is treated with antibiotics.

He’s a super friendly guy. Very docile and calm. He also paid no attention to other dogs.

Please help us get this senior a couch to lay on this weekend.

🐦‍🔥LADY BIRD (BIRDIE)🐦‍🔥

Looking for a foster!
Location: West Fork, Arkansas
Transport options available!

Lady Bird AKA Birdie is a 5 year old spayed female Great Dane.

She is currently living with six other dogs and is looking for a home with only one or two large male dogs. She has only had altercations with one of the female dogs in the home but to be safe we are seeking a home with just males. She does need to be fed alone.

She is great with cats and children. She bonds closely to her people and her favorite person in her current home is the husband. If a stranger visits the house (UPS, neighbor, etc) she will bark but warms up. Her owners trust her fully with humans of all sorts.

Birdie is an excellent lady in the house. She’s house trained and has a doggy door to go in and out as she pleases. She’s never tried to escape the fence when unsupervised. Granted it is 6ft tall. She’s not destructive either. Ok well one thing.. she may destroy your pillow if you leave her in a bedroom alone for too long. She does great on car rides. She is used to daily walks.

Shes a really great girl and her family is devastated. She’s a classic Great Dane who can be sassy for attention but doesn’t bark much. Please let us know if you can foster or foster to adopt her!

🪩ARLO - FOSTER NEEDED🪩

Arlo
9 mo old, intact male, dane/shepherd mix

Location: Jacksonville, Florida

Arlo was taken in from a stranger. The daughter planned on keeping him, but he didn't do well with her and he went to stay with the current owner (her mom). He has been passed around quite a few times and lack structure and schedule.

Arlo spends most of the day in his crate. He is "hyper focused" on small animals, cats, small dogs and kids. NOTE - he is in his crate 22 hours a day. And he is a high energy dog! Even low energy dogs would struggle with this.

We had a volunteer go over and meet Arlo. He showed no aggression just a really big puppy that doesn’t know one single rule. He jumps, mouths, needs leash help, barks when people enter the yard or when people or dogs walk by. Our volunteer tossed him a few treats and basically told him to knock it off, entered the yard, and they became friends. Surprisingly Arlo liked her husband more. The current family is scared of Arlo which is another factor to his behavior.

He has never had full contact introductions with dogs but he did engage in play with the volunteers dog at the fence. A lot of play bows and tail wags and a happy do**us face. And that was with a barrier which can be a challenge for some. We think he would love a home with another big dog to play with.

He's housebroken and of course crate trained. Doesn’t like when his people leave and will bark.

We are looking for an adult / teen kids only family that has time teach Arlo how to be the bestest boy. He will be a quick learner. No cats and no small dogs. A large dog or two to play with! They have spoken with a professional trainer and they say there's a lot of potential for him.

🌟 𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧: 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽! 🌟

Yesterday, we received a heartbreaking email from a fellow rescue in South Texas about Mama Daisy and her 11 three-week-old puppies. They were living outside, taking shelter under a shed, completely exposed to the elements. With the frigid Arctic blast hitting today, we knew they wouldn’t survive the night. We sprang into action, mobilizing a team to find a foster and get them to safety.

This is an active animal cruelty case, so details are limited. What we can share is devastating: Mama Daisy has suffered severe abuse. She was hit in the head by her owner, resulting in significant swelling to her face and jaw. She’s covered in cuts, painfully thin, and struggling. Despite her condition, she’s doing everything she can to care for her puppies.

Thanks to Jennifer, who stepped up to foster overnight, Mama Daisy and her babies are now safe, fed, and warm. Today, they’re heading to San Antonio to receive specialized care at VCA Becker Animal Hospital. Janet has graciously offered to foster them for the week, but we will need a long-term foster in the San Antonio area to keep them close to their veterinary team.

Mama Daisy’s first vet appointment is tonight at 6 PM, and we’ll know more about her condition after that. Right now, we urgently need your help.

Celebrating wins 🎉

Yesterday was a very emotional day. It was filled with the lowest of lows. But before the day ended, we had many wins that lifted our spirits and reminded us why we keep fighting.

First up! After weeks of good samaritans trying to catch 3 stray Great Danes (momma and her 2 pups) they were FINALLY able to get them to safety! They got one pup on a leash and the other two hopped right into the car!

It was truly a miracle, the freeze was coming today and they were surrounded by busy highways and intersections in OKC. They also were jumping 6 foot fences. They are all now decompressing in foster homes and doing amazing.

We still need to find foster homes for momma (harlequin) and puppy (black). We are estimating the pup to be 6 months old. We are unsure about dogs or cats at the moment. No kids for mom, as we don’t know her personality yet. They are very skittish so consider them a flight risk. With some love and care, they will be trusting again!

📍 We are accepting foster offers in OK and surrounding states!!

→ JAYNE’S LAST CHANCE

We are going to try a different approach this time! The videos of Jayne’s behaviors sparked a lot of debate but not a single person donated. So ….here are some pictures of Jayne that show she CAN be a happy and healthy girl if we can get her over this hurdle. Please help us help Jayne.

Original post:
We are Save Rocky the GD Rescue and Rehab. Sometimes the “rehab” is medical. Other times, like in Jayne’s case, it is behavioral. She needs an extensive board and train program as she is a severe bite risk to both human males and dogs which she shows aggression to all breeds shapes and sizes. There’s also some resource guarding to tackle. She needs this board and train because right now she is unadoptable to general public (which the safety of the community is our main focus here).

Jayne was last call at a shelter in Texas. We had two directors go and meet her and after going really slow they were able to get her out of the kennel and her story with us began. We’ve had her in several homes but she just has some deep rooted issues that need to be worked through by a professional… That’s where the amazing Amber comes in with CrateEscape Indy (https://www.facebook.com/share/1BJf2tg61b/?mibextid=wwXIfr)

Amber has successfully rehabbed two last chance dogs Athena and Ed Sheeran. Jayne will be even more challenging than those two but we know as long as Jayne is willing to learn that Amber can help her.

A lot of you may wonder ..why put so much effort into one dog when there’s so many perfect ones being euthanized? Valid question.. but that’s not why our rescue was formed many years ago. Amy created this rescue so dogs like Rocky who were misunderstood could have a chance. There are plenty of rescues who help the behaviorally sound dogs but only a handful that will help the ones who need a little extra guidance. We believe they deserve a chance - if they aren’t a fit for the human world then so be it but at least we gave them the opportunity when nobody else would.

To donate to Jayne’s board and train please use this direct link:

We are really hoping to reach our goal ASAP!

🧁 PUDDLES - FOSTER NEEDED 🧁

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Notes: Puddles is a ~1.5 year old, 62lbs, unaltered female who came to the shelter yesterday night. She is functionally blind due to her third eyelids distending and covering her eyes (we are not sure at this time whether her eyes are functional underneath — I will update with notes from vet exam as they become available). It's unclear whether she's also deaf, as she does not respond to voices, but she seems able to hear higher registers. Puddles loves treats, especially peanut butter, and she's keen to stay right by your side. Though she struggles to get around, occasionally bonking her head on the wall or getting twisted up in the leash, she doesn't let it slow her down.

Puddles will come off stray hold Friday at 10am. It's critical that she has a place to go shortly after her stray hold is up.

🚨URGENT MEDICAL FOSTER NEEDED 🚨

Location - Montgomery City, MO

Pyrrah is a 6 year old intact female that will be spayed once medically cleared. She has a skin condition that is leaving patches of hair missing & sores on her feet. She lives with 5 other dogs & they are not showing the same symptoms so we don’t think it’s contagious.

Even with her uncomfortable skin condition, she is still the best girl. She has lived with kids of all ages from baby to teenagers & she loves them all! She is cat & dog friendly. She enjoys the company of dogs of all ages & sizes. Pyrrah lives on a farm & does well with all the animals (goats, chickens, ferrets, hamsters, gerbils, to name a few).

Pyrrah is leash trained, house trained, & knows basic obedience. She is hoping to find a foster home ASAP so we can help get her skin issues under control. Can you help?

08/01/2025

It’s with heavy hearts that we share some devastating news. Last night, we lost our sweet Nickel. She underwent surgery yesterday for pyometra and mammary masses and came through the procedure well. Our hearts were full of hope as she rested, but tragically, the vet found her deceased this morning. We are completely heartbroken for Nickel and for her foster mama, Becka, who had planned to adopt her. Nickel was so loved, and her loss is felt deeply by everyone who knew her.

As if that wasn’t enough heartbreak for one day, we also received gut-wrenching news about Mama Shirley, who had been in the shelter. Last night, while still in the shelter, she went into labor and gave birth to 11 puppies. Sadly, two were stillborn, and likely due to the cold, the remaining nine didn’t survive. This outcome is devastating beyond words. We fought so hard for them, but sometimes the weight of rescue is unbearable.

Rescue isn’t always fair, and it often feels like we just can’t catch a break. But even in these dark moments, we hold on to hope and keep fighting for those who still need us. Nickel, Mama Shirley’s babies – your lives mattered, and we will continue to fight in your memory.

Please keep Becka and our team in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time. Thank you for being part of our rescue family, through the highs and the lows. Your support means everything to us, and it keeps us going even when our hearts are heavy with grief.

Hug your fur babies a little tighter today.

🎉🐾 New Year, New Resolutions! 🐾🎉

We are 1 week into 2025, so here is a little list of New Year’s resolutions we think Great Danes might come up with (you know, if they could type). Whether it's committing to fewer counter-surfing adventures, perfecting the art of the puppy-dog eyes, or finally mastering the art of “gentle giant” lounging, there's always room for improvement!

We’d LOVE to hear from you – what resolutions do you think your Great Dane would make?!

Thanks for supporting Save Rocky's mission to rescue and rehome these incredible dogs.

🏆💗 Shelter saves of November and December! 💗🏆

Look at all of these happy doggos living their best life! Thank you to everyone who shared our posts/urgent pleas for these doggos, offered to foster, and helped us transport them to safety!

These are ONLY our shelter dog saves from the last month. As you can see, even with intakes 'slowed' due to limited funds and expensive medical care, we have still taken in 50 shelter dogs (+10 puppies) and over 100 dogs in total in the last 2 months! Shelter dogs continue to be most urgent as they are only given a few days-weeks to get placed. Strays and owner surrenders are not slowing down either, unfortunately. We haven’t seen it this bad in awhile.

We will continue to save them as long as you can help us! We are begging you to please donate to their care. ~90% of dogs who come into our rescue are not vetted and need vaccines, alters, and other surgeries to improve their quality of life. We can't do this without YOU!

Our Story

MISSION STATEMENT FOR SRGDRR

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment. To provide medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program. To provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring new home that will ensure a quality of life each Dane has deserved from the day it was born. We have been rescuing Great Danes nationwide since 2013 and we take pride in the collective love, concern and dedication for the misunderstood and forgotten Danes here. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes, and to provide them safety, protection and their birthright of a quality of life with love and dignity. To fund raise for Great Dane rescue efforts. To assist needy owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering, or heartworm treatment as funds allow. Also by educating them on affordable local spay neuter clinics local to them. To educate the public with information on topics such as spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, obedience and nutrition. To sponsor walks and events to raise awareness of rescue needs and the plight of SRGDRR Great Danes. To be a link point to other rescues and clubs nationwide. SRGDRR was founded in honor and memory of Rocky the Great Dane, whom we tried desperately to save in June 2013. Despite all of our efforts and offers of rehabilitation, he was irresponsibly and needlessly euthanized on June 12, 2013. Every sweet dog that enters our rescue will be provided with the care and love that Rocky was denied. Every dog we save will be in his memory and honor. For those of you who don't know Rocky's story........please keep reading...............Rocky is a 3 year old Great Dane that was owner surrendered June 1, 2013 to the Hernando County Animal Shelter in Brooksville, Florida for biting the owner's boyfriend and requested euthanization after 10 day quarantine. This same owner adopted Rocky from this same shelter in May 2012. He was brought in at that time with a female Dane named Emma. In May 2012 rescue tagged Rocky and Emma for rescue but while awaiting transport the shelter allowed Rocky and Emma to be adopted out separately thus cancelling all rescue efforts. We have rescue again ready to take Rocky and he would be going to a wonderful ranch on 7 acres that is completely fenced in. He would be the only dog in the fenced in area and he would be rehabilitated to be the Great Dane he was meant to be. We have offered our rescue services to the Vet on site at Hernando County Animal Shelter and they have refused. They have refused our animal behavior specialists entrance to assess him. Please help us fight to save Rocky from euthanization by having him properly assessed and rescued and rehabilitated. Rocky has gained media attention with his story and we pray for a happy ending for this big boy! Thank you and please share and repost as much as you can. Rocky's time is up on June 9, 2013.
