Our Story

Our story began in Apple Valley, MN, with our own three dogs: Seri the standard poodle, Gracie the long-haired dachshund, and Bruce the Rhodesian ridgeback. They seemed to insist on doing stuff every day - even in the downright ridiculously unreasonable winter weather of MN. The daily walks were our go-to, yet these dogs were telling me they’d like to pursue other interests, as well. Along our journey, I found there were other dog owners who were also looking to do stuff with their dogs, but preferred not to take their dogs to a commercial training center or doggie daycare; they wanted a more home-like approach. Since our front door first opened in 2006, we've treated every dog like they are a part of our family. Our unique in-home dog daycare and handling services come with a personal touch and provide owners with a little peace of mind in knowing that their dogs are expending their energy in a safe, clean, enriching and nurturing environment. Our core was simply supporting that good ol’ companion dog relationship. “What do you do?” people would ask me. Welll, good social manners, house rules, behavior modification, obedience, rally, agility, lure coursing, hiking, hunting, tracking/trailing, herding, drafting, sled and dryland urban mushing... pretty much anything a dog indicates it has an interest in and/or potential for (and every dog has a potential for something.)

“We do stuff.” became the shortened version of that.

I have so many fond memories of the many dogs I had the pleasure of knowing and working with over the course of those 10 years. The venerable Seri passed away at 17 years of age. A little upstart chihuahua named Stella joined our family. In 2016, we moved from MN to FL to support my daughter and two toddler grandsons while my son-in-law served military service overseas. That was a shortlong year that ended with my son-in-law getting move orders to Arizona, before he was even back home! So, I helped my daughter move her two toddlers, two cats, some household possesions, along with my three dogs from FL to AZ. THAT was a TRIP. (I’m pretty sure I have lots to say about that, ha!)

So, here we are in the wild wild west of Buckeye, Arizona. The dog culture here is a little different than what I’ve known, and Sonora desert living is a completely new experience and environment - but we’re learning.
