With summer and storm season in full swing our committee have decided to close our grounds to outside bookings a few days earlier than planned. We’d like to thank everybody who has visited us over 2024 and look forward to welcoming you back bright and fresh in 2025 after some down time.

Members may continue to school our grounds during the break. Please keep an eye on the members group for any updates or closures. Non members with a bit of FOMO are encouraged to check out our membership options and associated perks. The course will reopen to bookings via Nominate.com.au for January 10 as we kick off the first clinics of 2025.

Little things matter, in fact they add up to quite a lot over the year. Outside of our committee we have a fair few people who we’d like to thank for regularly doing jobs in the background. They are not necessarily seen by everybody but do some of those jobs that make events and the club run more smoothly and our grounds stay as beautiful as they are.

In no particular order we’d like to make special mentions to the following:

🔹Joanne Hughes who coordinates the dressage phase for all our ODE competitions
▫️Brittany Birch for supporting with ODE administration
🔹Paul and Hazel Foster who travel each year to run the start of our Cross Country phase
▫️All cross country jump judges at ODE’s
🔹Jon and Mark Baumann for project managing our arena surface upgrade project
▫️Anna Kerrison and Sue Garrett for working alongside the committee to coordinate our 50th Anniversary celebrations 🌟
🔹Grace Beatty (as one of our Showjumping Convenors) who took care of all the admin for our showjumping competitions
▫️Sally Browne, Anna Muir, Pauline Joubert and Karen Kilmister for keeping the amenities block shiny and clean
🔹Guy Browne for taking out the street bins each week
▫️Jan Guilbert for managing our 20 agistees and their horses throughout the year 🐴
🔹Tracy Fortt for her regular spot in our canteen at events
▫️Tamsyn Freeman our amazing barista ☕️
🔹Anthony Owen for keeping across our XC booking system
▫️Joel Gordon, Peter Wright and Dom O’Brien for slashing and mowing our paddocks

We would also like to welcome Sarah Pearce and Fiona Smith who will be taking on subcommittee roles working alongside the committee in 2025 🙌🏻

We ourselves on the committee are volunteers but we don’t do this alone. We can’t do everything we do without the volunteers. We wouldn’t be 2024 Club of the Year without all the little things.

Check out this amazing trio who are joining our clinic lineup for early 2025. It might be called the but you definitely don’t have to be an eventer to enjoy this. Brett Cantle, David Finch and Sally Collins will be offering lessons across the 3 eventing disciplines. Do one or all three ?! 🏇

Here at Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian we braved the rain and steamy conditions to come together on Sunday for our clubs Annual General Meeting.

It’s without further ado that we’re pleased to announce minimal changes to our wonderful committee for 2025.

We sadly bid farewell to Alyssa Savage (General Committee - Social Events) and also Grace Beatty (Showjumping subcommittee) to pursue new jobs in different parts of the country, after completing their study. It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside these ladies and we thank them for their contribution and wish them success with their future endeavours.

The only other two changes include Stef Neergaard joining the executive committee as the second Vice President. Stef has guided and supported the exec with various projects this last year and we are very glad to officially bring her in. Lastly we also welcome Vic Chrismas back into the fold as a General Committee member. There aren’t many people with more energy than Vic and we are excited to bring that extra get up and go into our 2025 committee.

We would like to thank and acknowledge all of our sponsors for their support and contributions to our club this year.

Sponsors are a key part of running successful equestrian events and having a wonderful prize pool for our competitors. However that’s only part of it, with far too many varied contributions to list in any great detail, we would just like to emphasise that without these organisations, our club wouldn’t have been able to do what we did this year.

It’s been a while between drinks but Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian is back after 15 years (since 2009 when Deb Postle took home the award as Club President) to reclaim the Equestrian Queensland 2024 Club of the Year.

A large part of the Clubs success over this last year goes to the strong but kind leadership style and dedication of our current club President Sally O’Brien, who we are glad to announce after yesterdays AGM will be leading us forward again in 2025.

Sally shares not only a love for the sport but also an inherent ability to utilize the strengths and talents of the people around her, in both the committee and broader club. Last night we missed a chance to raise a toast to our wonderful president after a great year. So cheers, and heres to all the possibilities in 2025. 🥂

As we rapidly approach Christmas and end of the calendar year we’d like to thank all riders who have visited our grounds in 2024.

We would also like to let people know that our grounds will close to all non members for three weeks over the festive season. Bookings will not be available via Nominate for casual bookings during this time. Anybody wishing to school on the grounds at this time will require a FTPEC membership. Members will remain advised of any closures due to weather.

We welcome you to check out our membership options and jump on board our current special for new members. We’re delighted to be finishing 2024 as EQ’s Club of the Year and are looking forward to the exciting things we can do in 2025.
