The FTPEC committee and our members extend our deepest condolences to Sarah Fitton on the passing of her father, Brian.
Brian was a long term supporter of eventing at Fig Tree Pocket and in Queensland, having served as Chair of Equestrian Queensland and Eventing Queensland and supported Sarah through her illustrious career as one of Fig Tree Pocket’s most successful eventers.
The current committee and members are the beneficiaries of the hard work of all those who came before us and we are grateful for their commitment to our club and the sport of eventing.
Our thoughts are with Sarah and the other members of our FTP community who share her sorrow at this time.

Our Fuel Asset Finance Open Showjumping competition weekend is just around the corner and nominations open today!
With two rings running heights from cross rails through to 120cm all weekend there’s an opportunity for the green horses and riders right through to experienced combinations. For more information regarding classes, entry costs or prize money, amongst other details please refer to the Schedule.
For those joining us as riders or spectators there is an open canteen during the day all weekend. For those wishing to stay onsite, camping and yards are available to book as part of your entry. On Saturday evening we’ll be joined by the Samurai Kitchen and After Hours Coffee Kart , there to sustain us until the next day. Grab a drink from our licenced bar and kick back listening to the talented Declan Ryan on his guitar.

With her extensive background in psychology, counselling, management, mentoring and Pilates, she excels in building confidence and motivation in riders of all ages and levels. Her coaching philosophy emphasises mindset and body awareness, which she uses to help riders achieve their full potential. Jen coaches full-time, both in person and online, with clients across Australia and the USA.

Thank you to our equally talented and cheeky course design crew for making magic once again. Ewan Kellett and Greg Auer pulled out all the stops to bring each grade a little something new, in the form of both new jumps and ride lines for our recent CCI. Thanks also extend to Luke Harmer for the jumps he’s built this year as part of our continuous course development plan. The committee decided in 2023 that we would like to re-invest money earned from cross country bookings back into the course. As a result, we have had a total of 15 new jumps installed out on course in 2024 and we’re just getting started🔥🔥
The cross country course is now open for schooling. Check it all out (complete with photos) on the 🤳

Now that the dust has settled on another ODE, FTPEC would like to thank everybody who joined us and has provided feedback on our recent event. We are a committee 11 ladies strong and we’ve had an absolutely huge year so far. Within the last few months alone we’ve hosted two ODE competitions, our 50th anniversary celebrations and a dressage day.
We encourage you to remember the vital role these volunteer committees play when choosing to raise issues. Respect and kindness cost nothing and they make a huge difference at the end of a long weekend.
Thank you to Eventing Queensland for trusting us with the 2024 State Championships and Equestrian Queensland for their support. We hope we’ve done you proud.
Thank you to Lesley Brodbeck, our lady on the microphone. Not only a great event MC, but also doubles as the Chairperson of Eventing Queensland.
Thank you to our dressage judges, ground jury, technical delegates, stewarding officials, course crew and the organising committee for bringing the 3 days together with very few glitches.

Lastly the biggest thank you goes to two of our key players, our event and club secretary Heidi Schweikert and club president Sally O'Brien. It takes hours and hours of administration (and many late nights) to make plans come together for events of this scale. Not to mention the time spent on the grounds setting up leading into the event and cleaning up afterwards. These are rather thankless tasks and it wouldn’t happen without them.
The Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Club committee gladly slide into our ‘clinic’ season. We are so pleased with our course additions and changes and hope riders get a chance to come and test it out soon 😊

These ladies (a current member, a former member and a new members mother) were involved in dressing the XC course leading into the event and XC jump judging on Sunday. We couldn’t have done it without them and are grateful for all volunteers who donated their time.
FTPEC welcome offers of assistance throughout the year. We have a busy schedule of events and many hands make lighter work. Not to mention we’re a pretty fun bunch to be around. 🤷♀️😉
