Pop-up Horse show & Pool party: Youth class
We had a Pop-Pop Horse Show & Pool Party today with our great niece & nephews and our friend’s grandchild today. This video is of the kids riding & grand parents/great Uncle leading. The horses were very patient & forgiving, I couldn’t more proud of the horses. It made me very happy to be able to saddle up all the mares and have everyone ride. The kids did awesome!
I will attach another video of “Grand parents class”. Ribbons for youth class & medals for 2nd & 3rd place in grand parents class, winner getting a blue ribbon!
Panda & Tango playing around
Panda (Cozy Pines Pandemonium) will be 6 month’s old in one week from today. I have picked that date to wean him. It is on the longer side of the recommended age range to wean, but I wanted to make sure it didn’t affect him mentally or socially.
There are some life long bad habits/vices (Cribbing/stall weaving) that are 4 times more likely in horses weaned younger or locked in a stall when weaned. I have been separating him from his dam/mom Sapphire for an hour at a time to groom or work with one or both, for several weeks now. This week I am going to seperate them for 2 hours at A.M. & P.M. feeding times. After an hour of eating I turned him out with just Aunt Tango, they run & play well together. They like to horseplay & play grab ass a lot. This is the first time mom wasn’t with him when he is out with the other horses.
Panda is now 13 Hands tall & 515#, time to cut the apron strings.
Cozy Pines Pandemonium (Panda) - is 37 days old and growing fast and becoming more independent every day. He is still just as friendly & curious as the day he was born though. As a true Gypsy Vanner horse, he is learning to pick pockets as well.
My friend April stopped by today to meet the horses and go for a quick ride. Sapphire is always great with new people, slow & steady.
