From Merced to Spokane: Milo’s Journey Home ❤️

Sometimes, the right pet finds you at just the right time.

Milo’s story began in Merced, California, where he was rescued by New Beginnings for Merced County Animals. Like so many other animals in need, he was given a second chance at life and made his way to Washington through an incredible rescue effort.

And that’s where fate stepped in.

In Spokane Valley, WA, a little girl named Zoe had been waiting patiently to find the perfect cat to love. One day, her family stopped by PetSmart—and there was Milo, ready to meet them. He played with both daughters, but it was Zoe’s younger sister who instantly fell in love. The connection was undeniable.

Now, Milo is home. He’s an incredible addition to their family, full of patience and love. He lets Zoe hold him like a baby as she walks around the house, completely trusting and adored. It’s as if they were meant to find each other.

And in a beautiful twist of fate, Milo and his new family actually share something special—they, too, are originally from California. Somehow, across miles and circumstances, they all found one another in Spokane.

This is why rescue work matters. Because every animal deserves a chance to be loved. Because every adoption is more than just finding a home—it’s finding family. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who helps make these happy endings possible. To those who foster, donate, transport, and adopt—you are changing lives.

Milo’s journey is just one of many. Let’s keep making them happen. ❤️🐾

Hope & Grace Update
Hope is absolutely thriving in her foster home! She has fully embraced the good life and has officially claimed the title of couch potato extraordinaire. She’s enjoying all the love, snuggles, and relaxation she deserves after everything she’s been through. It’s been amazing to see her come out of her shell and settle into a safe, comfortable space.

Grace is still on her road to recovery at Valley Animal Hospital, and while her healing process will take more time, she is making incredible progress every single day. She continues to amaze us with her resilience and strength.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported these girls—your kindness is making a real difference!

Merced Police Department Seeks Public Assistance in Investigating Animal Cruelty Cases

Merced, CA — The Merced Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in solving two separate animal cruelty cases within the city limits of Merced. In both incidents, dogs were shot—one with a pellet rifle and the other with a firearm. Thankfully, both dogs are on the road to recovery and are in the process of being rehabilitated and adopted through the support of New Beginnings Animal Rescue.

The two incidents, which are believed to be unrelated, occurred several days apart and on opposite ends of the city. The dogs were detained by Animal Control Officers and transported to Valley Animal Hospital for treatment. After their evaluations, it was discovered that the dogs had sustained injuries from gunshot and pellet rifle wounds.

Additionally, the Merced Police Department was made aware of a black German Shepherd found with a pellet rifle wound. However, this dog was located in the county area of Merced and is not connected to the city incidents.

At this time, our agency has not received any specific reports of animals being shot within the city limits, and we are asking for the public’s help to provide any information that could aid in the investigation.

"We are concerned about these acts of cruelty and need the community's help to hold those responsible accountable," said Captain Daniel Dabney, of the Merced Police Department.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Merced Police Department at 209-385-6912. Anonymous tips can also be reported through the Crime Tip Hotline at 209-385-4725.

The Merced Police Department is dedicated to protecting all members of the community, both human and animal, and is working tirelessly to investigate these cases.

Merced Mayor Joins the Effort to Support Grace’s Recovery

Everyone knows that Merced Mayor Matt Serrato is a huge advocate for our town, and it’s no surprise that he has stepped in to support Grace and her recovery. Despite his busy schedule, he has taken the time to check on Hope and even visit her at Valley Animal Hospital—a true testament to his dedication to our community.

Grace is making incredible progress, but her injuries remain severe. The wound on her head originally went through her entire skull, visible from one side completely through to the other. Because of the extent of her trauma, she cannot be placed in a foster home at this time and will remain a resident at Valley Animal Hospital as she continues her healing journey.

While we will keep everyone updated on the upcoming fundraiser dinner, we wanted to take a moment today to thank Mayor Serrato and every single person in this community who has stepped up to support these dogs after such a horrific act of cruelty. Your compassion, donations, and willingness to help mean everything. Together, we are making a difference!

Stay tuned for more updates, and let’s keep rallying around Grace, Hope, and Razz and all the animals in need! 💙🐾

🐾 Update on Razz! 🐾
He’s doing amazing and still at the shelter—just look at that smile! ❤️ Despite everything he’s been through, he’s full of love and ready for a fresh start.

We are pulling him tomorrow! He could be adopted, but because of his injury, he is rescue only at this time. He is on stray hold, which allows his owner a chance to reclaim him before he can be adopted out.

Razz is great with dogs and cats, and despite everything, he remains such a sweet soul. Unfortunately, he will most likely need to have his leg amputated.

Dr. Lauppe already has his x-rays—now we’re just waiting. . . .

Also, for those asking how we know his name—we don’t! He didn’t have one, so we named him last night. The name Razz comes from Lazarus—a fitting name for a boy who is getting a second chance at life. Lazarus means God has helped.❤️

Thank you to everyone supporting Razz! 🙏🏼🐾 Please share and help us find him the perfect home once he’s ready.

🐾 Hope & Grace Update! 💕

We have some amazing news to share about Hope and Grace—these two incredible girls are showing so much strength and resilience! 💜🐶

🌟 Hope’s Progress:

Hope is continuing to heal beautifully! Despite everything, she remains full of love, tail wags, and sweet kisses. Her stitches are healing well, and she is showing more personality every day. The staff at Valley Animal Hospital adore her, and she is soaking up all the love and care. Her spirit is truly unbreakable!

🌟 Grace’s Journey:

Grace is proving why she is Amazing Grace! 💕 Her wound is being kept clean at all times since she’s not a fan of bandages. While the hole in her head is shocking, you wouldn’t believe her attitude—she is so happy today, constantly wagging her tail!

She is still very thin and has a long way to go, but her bright spirit and determination are inspiring everyone around her. The fact that she can still trust and love after everything she’s endured is nothing short of a miracle.

These girls are fighters, and they are getting the care they need thanks to this amazing community. Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, and followed their journey. Your support is making all the difference in giving them the beautiful future they deserve.

Stay tuned for more updates, and please keep sending love their way! 💕🐾

🚨 URGENT: Third Dog Shot - Help! 🚨

Another innocent dog has been shot—this time twice in the leg. This poor boy was found in the county, and we need your help to find his owner! He’s an older, neutered male, great with cats and dogs, and deserves so much better than this.

For now, he’s at Animal Services while we wait to see if an owner steps forward. If no one claims him, he will need a hero! We will cover all medical expenses, but he desperately needs a safe and loving home.

If you can help or know someone who can, please reach out immediately. Let’s get this sweet boy the care and love he deserves. Share this post far and wide!
