These rocks are found specifically in the Hill Country of central Texas. These rocks are used as a decorative and active addition to aquariums. The decorative aspect provides holes, tunnels, caves and crevices for fish to hide and swim through. The active aspect of these rocks balances and maintains alkalinity levels. The limestone nature of these rocks allows them to slowly release alkaline mate

rial into the aquarium water. However, water changes and tank cleaning prevents these levels from being excessive. Texas Holey Rock is not common. It can only be found in the Texas Hill Country. We live on several acres where it seems we pull up nothing but Holey Rock. However, just down the road the rock composition changes. Lucky for us and for you, our supply appears to be plentiful!
