Should dogs wear clothes? 💭

All dogs are different, and so there is no “one size fits all” answer. However, there are definitely circumstances where it would be beneficial for a dog to wear clothes.

1️⃣ Some dogs have certain skin conditions (like allergies and rashes), and having a protective layer - like clothing - over their skin could provide a great sense of comfort and relief.
2️⃣ Older dogs can develop arthritis, making it super important to keep them warm. If an older dog gets too cold, the cold can make their arthritis worse and cause discomfort and pain. Older dogs also have weakened immune systems, so it’s important to keep them warm in order to keep them healthy.
3️⃣ Small dogs have a harder time maintaining their body heat due to their smaller size. Wearing a sweater can be a great way to help manage your dog’s body temperature to make sure they aren’t getting too cold.
4️⃣ Clothes can also be a great help to the owner by trapping excess hair shedding. Especially if you use a fleece material (like our stretch fleece), a dog’s hair will get stuck to it instead of all over your couch and bed.

Do you know about the 3-3-3 rule? 💭

Getting a dog is a huge adjustment and learning period and rescuing a dog has its own set of unique challenges.

The 3-3-3 rule is a good expectation to go by when you’re rescuing a dog, but it’s also a good rule of thumb to keep in mind if you got a dog from a different source as well!

Collar vs Harness? 💭

Obviously, as a dog harness company, we believe that harnesses are the better option for dogs. However, we also believe that collars can have their place too (especially when it comes to keeping identification on your dog at all times).

When you make that decision to add a pet to your family, you take on a huge responsibility - to not only care for another living creature, but to also make an informed purchasing decision.

While we love to suggest rescuing to any potential pet parent, we know that that’s not the best option for everyone.

So, how can you make sure you’re buying from a responsible & ethical dog breeder? 💭

Unfortunately, the answer isn’t as easy and clean cut as we’d like. As of right now, there are no legal requirements for being a “responsible and ethical dog breeder,” and unfortunately, there are people out there that don’t have the best intentions.

We’ve compiled some information that can hopefully help you in vetting a potential dog breeder. While this isn’t a complete list of everything you should consider, we hope it’s a good starting point in your journey.

As always, we encourage you to do your research and make sure you’re purchasing dogs from responsible and ethical breeders. 💙

Welcome to Gooby’s Official page. GOOBY started in 2002 because at that time, the pet industry only focused on basic elements of the harness, and we felt that it wasn’t enough. We wanted to create products based on our purpose for dogs to wear different apparels depending on their surroundings.

Our goal is to make pet responsibilities effortless by creating products that are functional and easy-to-use. This encourages a better quality of life between our fellow pet owners and their companions.

We provide your dog with well-made daily essentials and we make sure that your dog is happy and content while being safe and warm. We enhance each design for the best functionality and movement. It is important to us that your dog is comfortable and can have fun while playing in our apparel and harnesses.

We want the best for your dog just as much as you do! We recognize that there are some factors, such as a hectic schedule and unfortunate weather, that makes it difficult for you to spend time with your best friend. Well, that’s where GOOBY comes in. We create products with these situations in mind to alleviate those hindrances and encourage more quality time.
