Good morning from a cloudy, drizzly and mild day. Dogs woke me at 5 so let them out and after went back to bed. Woke up at 10 to 8, which these days is late for me🤣 lit the fire so I could have a shower after my walk. Did the small loop with Nimmy. Went to the beach first and noticed they are removing some of the logs off the jetty, so might go down later when the men have gone. Took some photos of how nuked the place looks now - they have been really busy at removing the trees. The natural woods are still in situ which is good and there are several woodpeckers in the vicinity. Anyway we only walked a short distance, but will go down the beach on my own and soak my feet and then take Nimmy out for a proper walk later.

Moved home again 🤣 am back in the middle of nowhere at the Singing Sands and considering I was last here in February, the woodmen have been really busy. There are mountains of tree trunks all stacked neatly in huge piles, even on the jetty. Noticed the barge is moored in the bay ready to take some of them away, but on 2 minus notes, the road in is dreadful and a lot of trees have gone and the place looks like it’s been nuked, but it’s still heaven to me. Got settled in, had lunch and took myself off to the beach for a paddle, in the hope that the water will kill my fungus on my big toe. I put shorts and T-shirt on, but it was pretty Baltic to say the least. Got back and changed into more sensible attire, collected the poochie and decided to go part of the way to my favourite place in the hills. By this time it was sort of raining, we were out for 2 hours and only got damp hair. There was a black shoop (goat) who was lost and it followed me for a short while, then it scarpered when it saw the dog. No damage done to either party, but think the shoop (goat) got the fright of its life and hid in the undergrowth and the dog came back with no evidence of having caught it. Anyway here’s some photos. Walked 6.06 miles 🤣

Today Ted misbehaved, think he saw me put my case in the car so when we got down to the beach after walking on the machir Ted almost caught a bunny, but missed it by a whisker and then went on to the main beach, where there was a slight breeze. One of Ted’s favourite pastimes is to chase anything that moves, impersonating a kangaroo and racing along the beach, crashing into the sea and sitting in the water and then repeat the whole performance. To start off it was really funny, but when he wouldn’t come back I got very stressed as there’s a dead porpoise on the beach and he headed straight for it, thankfully he didn’t roll in it after that he went into the dunes and there’s absolutely no way I could catch him up. Fortunately I had the help of Isla (Black Lab) and after an hour or so managed to get him on his lead. This mornings walk lasted 2 hours and I’m sure Ted had a wonderful time. Am leaving here later on today and I’ll miss the craic both with the dogs and the lovely people I met on the beach.

Forgot to post yesterday, did much the same as the day before apart from when Ted and I went walkies, there were 5 other dogs, all of whom knew Ted and he had an absolute ball. Consequently he was totally knackered when he got home and spent most of the day asleep. Here’s some photos. He killed Duckie and found his carcass and his stuffing in the garden 🤣

What a beautiful day it was, though there’s still a wee nip in the wind. Had a lovely walk with Ted in the morning and then made a trip to Tob and called in at Dervaig on the way home. As it was such a lovely day, Ted and I spent all afternoon on the decking with the cats…purrfect. After dinner went walkies on the Machir as there were loads of other dogs on the beach.

Good morning! Went for a walk with Ted on the beach last night at about 6 and he was well behaved on the lead, so was really looking forward to meeting his pals again today. He actually came back to me when I called, so that’s a vast improvement on yesterday. Timed the romp just right, we were on the beach and machar and Ted was doing his normal stuff, trying to catch rabbits to no avail and generally horsing around and it started to rain on the way home. Here’s some photos.

Happy Easter to you all. Am back at Calgary with Ted after a really awful week which completely floored me. Anyway each day is a new day and am really loving my time with Ted and met up with some of his doggy pals on the beach today, we were there for an hour and a half and he’s zonked out on his bed 🤣

Took Coops on his last walk yesterday ā˜¹ļø we did 4 miles and went along the usual low level walk. Cooper wanted a walk through the woods on the way back, so we went past the Grey Mares Waterfall and then to the viewpoint and then back home…think he enjoyed himself, but in one of the photos he didn’t look too chuffed. Anyway I’m home again now and missing the daily walks and the craic with Gary…..

Went out with Cooper for a shortish walk this afternoon. He wasn’t in the mood for a walk at all, but once we’d given him a tennis ball and found him a half decent stick, he was happy. Just walked to the sea along the riverside and back again. Walked 8.33 miles altogether today…

Today we went on a longer walk, Cooper was in much better form so armed with a tennis ball and a stick (cooper) we set off and walked up to the wee dam which had slightly more water overflowing than it did the other day. From there we went along the riverside path to the playing fields and through to the old pier. Cooper was really behaving himself and on the way home decided he wanted to walk along the path on the opposite side of the river, this was when he started misbehaving himself, but not as badly as he did yesterday. We walked through the woods along the river where he met an extremely aggressive Jack Russel who reminded me somewhat of a piranha and if Coops had been off his lead he would have been shredded 🤣 went past the Grey Mares Waterfall and as we got to nearing the end of the walk met a black pug who was being a real pain in the bahookie…literally so was glad we could move Cooper along. We walked 5.45 miles in the drizzly sort of rain and it was lovely. Cooper also had a tennis ball as well as that big stick in his mouth and one had to be aware that any minute he’d come bounding past and if you weren’t looking would have knocked you over…

Today we walked 5.62 miles over comparatively flat terrain In the morning we went along the path next to the sea and into the woods near the Grey Mares Waterfall and then back home. After lunch we went into the woods again and climbed up until we reached the viewpoint then we wandered around the hoses so I could get the gnomes. Don’t think I’ve ever seen so many in one place before 🤣

Another stunning walk we did was along part of the West Highland Way which went through the wood and up over very loose steep and rocky paths until we reached the hills above the tree line. Once there the path levelled out and the views were spectacular as there had been a lot of snow on the mountain tops during the night..by the next day most of the snow had gone. On the way back, we passed Mamore Lodge which has been empty for several years and then we went back through the woods and down the extremely steep and winding drive. This was my favourite walk as the scenery was absolutely stunning.

Have been very bad at posting on this page…I’m still in Kinlochleven and have been on some amazing walks with Cooper who is knackered because we’ve put a lot of miles in over the last week or so. One of the highlights was last Sunday when we walked up to the Blackwater Reservoir, following the extremely steep (and dangerous in places) footpath along the burn, past the Prisoner of War Camp and up into the hills until we came to the dam itself. You used to be able to walk across the dam (914 metres long or 2,999 feet) but think health and safety put the kybosh on that…instead we walked against the wall until we were able to join the road on the other side. At some point we passed the Navvy’s graveyard which reminded me a bit of Tombstone in the old Westerns. It was a very beautiful place and the saddest stone simply read ā€œnot knownā€ 26/08/08ā€ and there was one that belonged to a woman…

Good afternoon from a cold and showery Kinlochleven..we had a frost last night and when I took Cooper out this morning it was -1. Cooper decided to be naughty today. Firstly he didn’t want to go to the woods, but eventually he changed his mind when he saw the cat that stays in one of the houses near the path 🤣. After seeing the cat, I let him off his lead. All good and well until he saw 2 of his nemesis (or should that be nemeses?) who were on their leads, he wasn’t and would not come back to me, though he did think about it for a while. Eventually set off on the walk Garry showed me on Sunday but it was just far too busy with dogs and walkers even though it was only half eight in the morning, so went on the drover’s path for a couple of miles which was really beautiful. Looks like they use this path when the trail bikes are around, as there were several bright orange flags on the verges. Think Cooper is a bit tired now as he only managed to walk round the block (but then it was drizzling) anyway here’s some photos and I’m pleased to say I walked 6 miles today

Hellooo from a cold Kinlochleven, 7 degrees compared to yesterday’s high of 14 degrees, with a bitter wind. We didn’t walk far today, only did 3 miles, but that’s better than no walkies 🤣 think I’ve made cooper really tired as he wanted to come home on both walks long before I did . He’s the only dog I know that can fit 3 tennis balls in his mouth, but am sure golden retrievers could fit about 7 🤣. He took 2 with him on both walks today which really distracted him as he wasn’t racing around like he normally does so I’ve hidden them in the car before we go walkies so he will get more exercise…. Here’s some photos…

Good morning from a very sunny and mild Kinlochleven. This morning I was heading towards the woods with Cooper and bumped into Neil’s brother in law who showed me the most brilliant walk , right up to the little dam which supplies the village and then up to the place where you can get really good perspective of how steep the water pipes really are. It’s absolutely stunning and we did 3.4 miles, so Cooper is now having a ziz on the sofa…. And I’m heading for another explore round the village

Good morning from a sunny Kinlochleven! Just got back from a lovely walk in the hills with Cooper. Decided to let him run free and so he did! Catching the sight of two hinds, off he shot…but he came straight back..,eventually. Much more relaxed and well behaved on the lead after his walk…
