A little run with Amelia this past summer when we lost the trail in tall grass. I love how she loves to run. I can feel her happiness 💙
In a quiet corner of my mom’s garden, a tiny, helpless cry broke the silence. There, nestled among the plants, was a small kitten, eyes wide with fear and filled with a longing for something—or someone—familiar. I don’t know how long he had been sitting there, but as soon as I saw him, I could feel the weight of this big world and uncertainty in those wide, pleading eyes.
We think his mother had been in a fight, leaving him behind. It’s as though he waited for her, alone and afraid, hoping she would come back and was calling out. His cries echoed, and they reached my mom, who called me right away.
I went over as quickly as I could, and the moment I picked him up, he nuzzled close, as though he finally felt safe. Without hesitation, I took him straight to the vet, wanting to make sure he was okay, to make sure this sweet little soul would have a chance. They estimated him to be about 10-12 weeks old—a baby, just starting out in life.
[The mortality rate among stray kittens is high, studies estimate that up to 75% of stray or feral kittens may not survive up to 6 months.]
After his vet check-up, I brought him home, eager but a little nervous to see how he’d fit in with my other animals. Slowly, carefully, we introduced him to each one. It was like he knew he was safe—he approached them with a mix of curiosity and caution and they welcomed him right in. A few sniffs, a gentle paw here and there, and soon they were sitting side by side, almost as if they’d known each other all along.
Watching him settle into my home, it became clear: he had found his place, and we had found another piece of our family. So we made it official—he was home, and he’d be staying with us for good. We named him Parker Cael Ali. 💙
🖤 Happy National Black Dog Day 🖤 I hardly ever get good pics of Rosie so you’ll have to settle for some video instead. I love how her hair bounces up and down as she plays. This video is from a recent play date I had with her. We did a lot. We went to the park, met Amelia, went for a walk with Amelia, stopped off at my neighbours down the street for some lolly gagging and then hit the conservation area to end the evening. She knocked out when she got home and didn’t move until the next morning when I came to visit her. Her emotional cup was filled. #fulfilledlife One thing I hate doing is sitting down consuming tv or wasting away while my animals sit idle. It’s not fair that I get to indulge when their needs haven’t been met. I always make sure their needs are met first before I can rest and relax, it makes me happy to see them happy and content. What have you done with your dogs lately?
That’s my girl - wild and free. I’ve always wanted to see where Amelia goes and what she does when she’s running, it’s her favourite thing to do. You can tell she loves it, but the joy I felt watching it from her POV was next level. Although I can’t see her face I can feel her happiness. Do more of what your dog loves! 🐾💙
