It's hoped the findings lead to more humane horse training regimes and improvements to welfare.

Benny's recent adventures to Science Camps and Vacation Bible Schools have us looking into where he can visit this school year. If you would like to see Benny at your school, put in a good word for us and send our information their way!
Benny has visited several schools, libraries, churches, and more. We love giving presentations on donkey characteristics, reading fun books like The Wonky Donkey, and teaching our next generation about compassion for animals and why there is a need for rescue.

A lot of wildlife is calling TMR home recently. We have new baby geese and ducks that are surrounding our facility, a family of barn swallows at the gift shop entrance, a family of foxes, as well has at least two male deer that have been hanging around our adoptable pasture.
Come get a chance to be around nature at our Donkey Walk on Saturday or on a tour!

Our newest baby girl was born July 16th and is a whole 2 weeks old today.
Mommy, Apphia, and three other donkeys came to us in March. These four (2 pregnant females, one gelding, and one jack) were relinquished by their owner that could no longer take care of them. We're expecting another baby any day from Skye, the other pregnant female.

Luckily, there is already an adoption application in for Apphia and her baby. We will keep you updated on if that application gets approved and what they name the new baby girl.

Meet Henry!
Henry is new to TMR and was relinquished after his buddy passed away.

This guy is super friendly. We will have him quarantined for the next 30 days per procedure and started on a diet immediately. Luckily he is already gelded and will be easy to introduce to our herd. He might even join us on or Donkey Walks starting in September 😁

Did you know that 90% of donkeys in the state of Texas are overweight or obese? That is because they are naturally desert animals and they will over eat if left on pasture. We always suggest our adopters keep that in mind when they get an animal from us. We suggest all donkeys be kept on "dry lots" or "sand lots" with occasional grazing time. If that is not possible, grazing muzzles can be utilized and help save the animal from issues obesity can cause.

Please consider donating to help out Henry and the other 350 that currently call TMR home.

Happy 1st Birthday Haggis Mack! 🥳🥳🥳
This goof was one of our first babies born from the kill pen moms last year. We are happy to announce his mom was just adopted and will be going to her new home when training is complete. Haggis Mack is bonding nicely with one of our February arrivals, Max, who was estimated around 2 years old.
This boy still has some of the longest ears we've seen on a baby. If you are interested in adopting, he would love a forever home 💙
