Sadly on Dec. 31st, we said goodbye to Holly. By accepting her into the Society, we saved her from euthanasia. For over four years, she was a loving, loyal companion to Marion Brady and will be dearly missed. Holly was 20 years old. Peace be with you little one!

I know that 2024 has been a bit of struggle for most people, our donations have been substancially lower than in previous years. As most of you know, the majority in our care are unadoptable due to temperment, behaviour, age or health. So for those of you who made a contribution to our Society, we thank you for your generosity and support.
We hope that 2025 is kinder to our furry, feathered friends and that many will find a real place to call home.
Please celebrate the New Year with positive thoughts, and a heart full of love and compasion for those dependent on human kindness.

I now have two companion Finches for my little guy. He is blissfully happy. Follows them everywhere, beeping, chirping, communicating his gratitude that they have joined the flock. The newbies are beside themselves with joy, they now have the freedom of flight after living in a cage all of their lives. I am so grateful to Ben and Chris for driving all the way to Abbottsford to pick them up so that our little guy would have friends for Christmas.

Mr Crow was found at the Dell Shopping Center. I have set him up in a wire crate with food and water. He looks like he has an abscess on the heel of one foot and a growth on his toe, same foot. I have left a message at the Bird Hospital in Delta.
Ok, thank you for all your suggestions/recommedations for places for this bird. He (just for ease of gender id) has a partner and his partner is looking for him at the Dell. If he survives the night, I will take him to the VET tomorrow. Once Vetted and in recovery, he will be returned to join his flock. Donations towards his care, would be received with gratitude.

Lola on the right, is an 8 year old Pug/Boston Terrier mix and BooBoo (male) on the left, is an 8 year old Pug/Beagle. Both are great with other dogs, children and people in general. Their energy level is medium. Interested in fostering/adopting please send an email to [email protected]. This is URGENT I can not help these dogs unless fosters are found. Please share.

Meet Regie (blond) and Blue. They are 1.5 year old Shepard/Retriever/Siberian Husky cross. They are very
lovable, great with people, however, tend to nip other dogs.

Donna is one in a million. Thank goodness for people like her who devote their lives to helping animals. She is a very special soul, and it’s evident from the moment you meet her. She took in my kitties when I was in a desperate situation, and right away I knew they’d be very well cared for. The shelter is very clean, spacious and has a fantastic, safe, outdoor space for the animals to play in. I was incredibly impressed with Donna and the Sara Society. I highly recommend them!

New arrivals. Fudgey, Tortie and Twerpy, orange Tabby. 12 year old siblings however, they are not a bonded pair. Both have been declawed. Owner is deceased and his partner due to severe alergies, could not take them. They are feeling a little overwhelmed by all the activity of the past few hours as they had a very long trip from Kelowna. I am sure after a good meal and quiet time in the guest room they will be fine. I will only reply to emails [email protected].

Meet Snoopy (brown) and Duke. They are some kind of terriers, what is unknown. Abondoned in the interier and was brought to us by a very caring individual. Probably a year or less in age. They are under 20 lbs. Very friendly, Snoopy is a tad on the shy side. Both are great with cats and other dogs. Interested in adding one to add to your family? Send an email to [email protected]. This is Luka. Weighs 63 lbs. Here is his profile provided by his owner:

He will be 11 months on June 29th
He is a Shepherd/Staffie Mix and weighs 63 pounds
He is neutered and micro chipped
He is full of energy and loves to go for walks on and off leash, enjoys toys and chasing after balls but doesn’t return them, but likes you to chase after him and throw it again

He plays well with other dogs, another dog lives where we are and they play together. He plays well and enjoys running in and out of water at the dog park with the other dogs
He sleeps on my bed with me or in his crate in our room
He is fully crate trained but can also be left on his own in our room while I’m out
He is fully potty trained and knows his basic commands
He is still nervous and shy meeting people on and off leash
He does best with slow and gentle introductions palm open at his level

He has no experience being with children, I think he’s not sure what to make of them when he sees them and he will bark. When walking on leash if a cyclist or a runner passes us he try’s to give chase
He’s met cats there’s one that lives in this house, only with each of them on the other side of the door
He loves human touch and being near his person
He truly is a sweet boy.

And now this is Sammy. I had been feeding him for over a year and then he disappeared for several months. I decided to set my trap to catch Earl Grey who escaped from the yard last year. And, lo and behold I caught this guy. I took him to the Vet to check for tattoo or microchip and there was none. I had him neutered, etc., and he now resides in the cat condo. While he is not feral, he is not friendly and hides up in the top bunk whenever I enter the room. I think he has been on his own for a while. Baby steps with this guy.

Two more members have joined our family. Mojo is in the first photo and Marley is sitting on the window sill, eight year old siblings. Their owner is in long term care now and there were no family members who could take them in. They have not been socialized with people due to the deteriating health of their owner and as a result they are very, very, timid. I hope that in time they will learn how to trust.

It was with a heavy heart that I said goodbye to Gingy. She was a 14 year old semi ferol that lived with us for 3 years. The night before she left, I kissed her brow and told her I loved her several times.
She closed her eyes and smiled.
When she chose to leave, she left knowing that she was loved. The spirit will stay in the last place it felt safe. So, she will always be here, roaming the backyard, pi***ng
off the dogs and other cats, and always looking for me. Rest in peace little one.
