Wellness Exams and Vaccines
We recommend bi-annual exams for pets as an essential part of their overall health care. Our technicians and veterinarians will ask about your pet’s behavior, lifestyle, diet, and exercise. We’ll also check on their current conditions, vaccination schedules, and past medical history. Complete Pet Dentistry
Our board-certified dentist and support staff offer a wide range

of dental care, including cleaning, extractions, and surgery. It’s important to control tartar build-up before it leads to problems such as gingivitis, abscesses, and periodontal disease, or more serious problems such as heart, liver and kidney disease. Pet Ultrasonography
Ultrasound allows us to look at a monitor and see the architecture of different organs and search for abnormalities like masses or foreign materials. We can also perform fine needle biopsies without the need for surgery. Pet Surgery
Various pet surgery options are available for your dog, cat, bird, or small mammal, including elective surgeries, soft tissue surgeries, and orthopedic surgeries. We always recommend a full physical examination of your pet to determine the best pre-surgical and surgical options. Pet Dermatology
There are hundreds of pet skin conditions recognized in dogs and cats. When unchecked, these pet skin conditions can get out of hand and cause major suffering to your pet. Our veterinarians are skilled in many diagnostic methods to determine the cause and prescribe the proper treatments for your pet’s problems. Pet X-ray Services
We offer digital radiography and review by a board-certified radiologist to quickly detect issues so that treatment can commence as soon as possible. Pet Cremation Services
Cremation can play an important role in helping you honor and remember a beloved pet that has passed away. We have our own crematory and will provide your pet with a respectful and dignified farewell. Pet Boarding
24-hour supervision not available at Wahiawa Pet Hospital
We provide pet boarding for dogs, cats, birds, and small exotics. Immunization is required. Exotic Pet Care
Available at Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital & Makai Pet Hospital Only
We love dogs and cats, but also have the expertise and experience to take care of your more exotic pets, including rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, and birds. Pregnancy and Reproduction
A full range of reproductive services are available from ovulation timing to cesarean sections. Besides having the only active canine semen freezing lab in the state, we have the experience you can trust when planning your breeding. Alternative Medicine
Pet Acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of disorders, including osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disc disease, and forelimb or hind limb weakness due to nerve damage. Pet acupuncture is also widely used for many other conditions, such as liver and kidney disease, skin conditions, and reproductive disorders. Laser Therapy promotes healing in a safe, non-surgical way with no side effects. It can be used to treat arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, general pain, degenerative joint conditions, neurological pain, and soft tissue injuries. Pet Endoscopy and Laparoscopy
Available at Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital only
Pet endoscopy and laparoscopy is a minimally invasive way of obtaining tissue samples and removing foreign bodies from the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, and colon without conventional surgery.

09/08/2024

August is Itchy Pet Awareness month! Did you know that itchy skin is one of the most common health issues we see in dogs? All dogs will lick and scratch to some degree, but if this behavior becomes excessive, it is no longer normal. Excessive itchiness (pruritus) can be a symptom of skin allergies. Click the link in our bio (www.itchingforhelp.com) for more information about treating allergy itches!
💙
Left unchecked, scratching/licking can destroy the skin barrier, leaving the skin vulnerable to allergens and susceptible to infection which can worsen the itch and cause additional complications such as hair loss, open wounds, redness, inflammation, and body odor. Note, food allergies (different from food intolerance) are extremely uncommon and make up a very small percentage of canine atopy cases. The most common culprits for allergies in dogs are often environmental (pollen, grass, mold, dust mites) or parasitic (fleas, ticks, mites).
💙
If your vet diagnoses your dog with skin allergies (atopic dermatitis), they will work with you to figure out which allergens are contributing to the immune reaction and what the best treatment options for both you and your dog. Prescription treatments are available and have been proven to be effective in reliving itchiness. Though non-prescription methods can also be beneficial, some cases of atopic dermatitis cause itching so severe that needs to be controlled with prescription-strength treatment.
💙
What about itchy cats? Atopic dermatitis in cats and dogs is very similar and presents with many of the same symptoms and treatments. Ask your vet about your cat’s itchiness and what treatments they have available for relief! 🐱

This is Pua, a 10-week-old pug puppy getting her first nail trim ever! She also came in for her DA2PP booster vaccine. This vaccine protects her against distemper, adenovirus type 2, parvovirus, and parainfluenza… but it sure doesn’t protect her from our hugs and kisses!

We love you Emi!❤️

Yuki 💬"we had a health scare with Emi today. she's has an on & off coughing fit about a few weeks ... we took her to the vet for a chest x-ray, and the vets thought it could be an enlarged heart causing an airway blockage. after a review by the radiologist, it turns out she has an issue with her trachea, and not her heart! she'll be on meds to see if the issue will clear up. please keep Emi in prayer for healing!" 🙏🏼🐾

Samson is home! The surgery went well and we are so grateful the wolf pack is finally together again.🥹

Mahalo nui loa to the entire team at the Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital. Their patience, professionalism, compassion and loving kindness made the entire ordeal a smooth one. We can’t recommend them enough.🙏🏽

If there is ONE thing I can recommend to all fellow dog owners: get pet insurance when your dog is healthy! We enrolled Samson in Embrace Pet Insurance (via USAA) five years ago, and thank goodness we did! It allowed us to give Samson the level of care he deserves.♥️

Finally, thanks to all for the show of support, the check-ins and kind words. It got us through, believe me. 😘

Does your pet ever shake their head?

How about so much so it even makes you dizzy? Before you get all shook up, don’t worry the occasional head shake is normal, but if it’s happening often, it can be a sign of something more serious.

❗️Head Shaking Common Causes:
-Ear infections
-Inflammation
-Foreign Body

❗️Other Symptoms:
-scratching at the ears
-red, swollen ears
-vocalizations
-discharge
-odor
-lack of balance
-unusual eye movement

Not only are ear issues uncomfortable. If left undiagnosed or untreated it can lead to more serious issues for your pet. If you notice anything or need to have your pet seen, call us at any one of our locations!
