Hey dog lovers 🐕🐶!
I have something to share with you!
I honestly didn't give too much thought to what I was feeding my dogs for the longest time.
Because I thought all dog foods were created equal - was I wrong?!
One of my pups, Molli, started to develop tummy issues slowly, and I noticed her energy levels go down.
At first, I thought, well, maybe she's just getting old, and that's what it is.
At first, I thought, well, it's just "dog breath," but then I did some research and found out that her low-energy, tummy issues, and dog breath were all related issues!
At first, I thought, well, it's just "dog breath," but then I did some research and found out that her low-energy, tummy issues, and dog breath were all related issues!
Then, I started to notice her doggy breath getting worse! I mean, it was so bad that I couldn't give her kisses anymore - that bad!
We, dog owners/lovers, dismiss dog breath as just dog breath, but there is usually a perfect reason behind the odor. Here are a few I found:
1. Oral Hygiene and Periodontal Disease - this is the most common cause of bad breath in dogs - mouth and teeth disease - just like us humans!
2. Bad Dietary Habits - your dog may be eating out of the garbage can, decomposing animal remains, etc.
3. Diabetes - I found out that if your dog has sweet or fruity breath, you most likely need to make an appointment with your vet; your dog may have diabetes
4. Kidney Disease - If your dog's breath smells like urine, then they may have kidney infections - consult your vet ASAP
5. Liver Disease - If your dog's breath smells bad... and she's vomiting, you might want to make a checkup appointment with the vet as soon as possible.
Of course, I learned that most of these are preventable or curable by making sure you, firstly, watch what your dog eats - should eat healthy dog foods and natural supplements, as well as brushing dog's teeth regularly, and get chew toys and dental treats!
Has your pet exhibited any of the symptoms above? What did you do to cure the dog's bad breath? Leave comments below - I'd love to hear your thoughts! 👇👇
