Bumble bees and other wild bees falling asleep inside flowers after a long day of collecting pollen
27/03/2024
Beyond the delicious honey they provide us, bees play a vital role in the survival of our ecosystems and food systems.
Pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and birds, are responsible for pollinating 75% of global food crops and 80% of flowering plants.
Without pollinators, we would lose a significant amount of food, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
Bees, in particular, are essential to our ecosystem as they play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity. They help in the pollination of wildflowers which provide habitat and food for other wildlife. This, in turn, helps to maintain the balance of the ecosystem.
However, bees and wild pollinators are under threat due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change. It is, therefore, crucial that we take steps to protect them.

It’s almost spring season which means the flowers will be blooming, the bees will be pollinating, and we will be 🌸…sneezing…🌸
Several studies have shown that consuming local honey can help alleviate symptoms of seasonal allergies.
Honey contains small amounts of pollen from local plants, which can help your body build up a tolerance to the allergens in your area.
Plus, honey has natural anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce swelling and irritation.
So why suffer through another allergy season? Try incorporating local raw honey into your diet and see if it makes a difference. Not only is it a delicious natural sweetener, but it could also be the key to a more comfortable allergy season.
Visit us in store or shop online to get some for yourself and enjoy the benefits 🌸🤧🍯🐝

Today is Shabe Yalda; a night of welcoming. A night of love, light, and rebirth of the sun. The night of Hafez and Bidel (Persian poets) and lovers in the hope of a bright sunrise and longer days to come.
Shabe Yalda (شب یلدا), or the Night of Yalda, is a Persian festival celebrated on the longest and darkest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere i.e., the night of the winter solstice. It is one of the most important ancient Persian traditions which is still practiced today, falling on either the 20th or the 21st of December.
Today, Iranian, Afghan, Tajik, Kurdish, and Azeri communities come together with family and friends to celebrate Shabe Yalda. They gather, usually at the home of grandparents or elderly relatives, to spend the night waiting for the sun to rise with legends, stories, and riddles. They recite verses from the Shahnameh (the epic Book of Kings by Ferdowsi, and the longest poem ever written by a single author) and intone poems from Divan-e Hafez**, accompanied by musical instruments, singing, and delicacies such as – watermelon, persimmon, pomegranate, and “ajil” ( آجیل), a colorful mix of dried fruits, nuts, and seeds.
According to an old Persian belief, sunrise the following day would break the back of darkness, and with its radiance, remove darkness from people’s lives.
However you’re spending this winter solstice, we wish you warmth and light, and brighter days ahead✨❤️

With the weather cooling down and cold and flu season already here, we’d like to share the recipe for our favourite immune booster!
The classic honey lemon ginger tea. This is our favourite drink to consume year round for its delicious taste and anti-inflammatory qualities, but it is also widely used to naturally prevent and treat sinus and flu infections.
Ginger, honey, and lemon all hold solid anti-inflammatory qualities.
The lemon offers potent digestive compounds, ginger helps in stimulating the digestion process, and honey’s antioxidant and antibacterial properties help fight bacteria and soothe sore throats.
Together these ingredients create a powerful immune booster.
Go make yourself a cup and enjoy the benefits!

Our Story
BCB Honey Farm & Drive-Thru Shop | Raw, Local, Unpasteurized Honey | Our Hives, Our B.C. Bees | FREE SAMPLES – International Shipping
At BCB Honey Farm, our entire operation is dedicated to one single goal:
TO HELP REVIVE THE B.C. BEE POPULATION.
Pollinators, such as our Honey Bees, transfer pollen and seeds from one flower to another, fertilizing the plant so it can grow and produce food. Cross-pollination helps at least 30 percent of the world's crops and 90 percent of our wild plants to thrive. Without bees to spread seeds, many plants—including food crops—would die off.
To help maintain the local economy and produce the best honey, we solely believe in only producing honey and keeping our bees in British Columbia, Canada. What first started as a project of only 50 hives has burst into a full-scale commercial honey production of over 1000 hives. Every winter, without the use of chemicals, varroe mite disease, and harsh conditions, we lose on average 20-40% of our bees. This, however is often recouped in the summer.
With summer in full bloom, each hive can grow to a size of around 60,000 bees. At our peak time, we keep close to 60 Million Bees. With the continued support of our local community, we aim to keep more bees and pollinate more crops.
At our Honey Farm, we pride ourselves in selling raw, natural, unpasteurized honey–it's the way nature intended. We farm using organic practices on Non-GMO crops.
We use a cold-extraction method that allows the honey to retain its full benefits: vitamins, antioxidants, pollen, propolis and royal jelly.
Cold-Extracted Raw Clover Honey is our specialty. For commercialized honey to stay liquid and have a longer shelf-life, it must be filtered. In order to filter honey, it needs to be heated to some degree to be able to pass through a filter.
Unfortunately, during the pasteurization process, most, if not all of the goodness from the honeycomb is lost due to the heat. All the vitamins, enzymes, and nutrients are thereby destroyed. Pasteurized honey sold in stores is just a “sweetener” from honey.
