We're dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals, promoting responsible pet ownership, and enforcing local laws for the safety of pets and residents. From picking up stray animals, reuniting lost pets with owners, to finding new homes for unwanted pets, our employees are dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our animals. While the Shelter will never replace a good home with a caring family, we
do our best to provide a safe place where animals will find food, water and a friendly face with a caring hand. Animal Control Officers enforce the Animal Code found in the Revised Ordinances of the City of Pauls Valley. These ordinances include requirements for rabies vaccinations, city licensing and sterilization requirements.

With animals as young as 8 weeks old at-risk to be euthanized in kennels across the Oklahoma City metro due to overcrowding, shelter owners are working to get as many animals adopted.

🌞 Hello Summer! 🌞
As we hit triple digits this summer, it's crucial to ensure our furry friends stay safe and comfortable. Here are some essential tips to keep your dogs cool and healthy during these hot months:
1. Hydration is Key:Always provide plenty of fresh, clean water. Consider adding ice cubes to their water bowl to keep it cool.
2. Shade and Shelter: If your dog spends time outside, ensure they have access to ample shade and a well-ventilated shelter.
3. Limit Exercise:Avoid walking or exercising your dog during the hottest parts of the day. Early morning or late evening is best.
4. Never Leave in a Parked Car:Even with windows open, temperatures can quickly become life-threatening.
According to our city's ordinances, proper care must be provided for all animals:
Food and Water: Must be free from contamination and available in sufficient quantity to maintain good health.
Shelter: Outdoor shelters should be of adequate size and construction to protect from the elements.
Inspection and Enforcement: Our animal control officers will inspect and enforce these standards to ensure all pets are treated humanely.

🌪️☔️🐾During storms, it's crucial to keep pets inside to prevent them from fleeing. Loud noises and flashes of lightning can cause pets to panic, leading them to try to escape from damaged fences or find a way out due to fear. Even if your fence seems secure, high winds or falling branches can create gaps that allow pets to break free. Make sure all doors and windows are closed, and block off any potential escape routes. Keep your pets in a room or area where they feel safe, and ensure they have plenty of distractions like toys or treats. Staying inside keeps them safe from harm and reduces the risk of them getting lost or injured in their attempt to flee. Your calm presence helps them feel secure. If they seem anxious, talk to them softly and offer comfort through gentle petting. Remember, their safety is the top priority, so take every precaution to keep them inside during a storm. ☔️🌪️🐾
Adoptable cat room!!!
Just a short intro to some of our cats up for adoption. You can come on in and meet them our hours are 10am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. If you're interested in them please call the shelter at 405-238-1303 or message the page. Adoption fees are 25 dollars and you will need your driver's license.
Just another day as an ACO.
Just another day on the job. Being an animal control officers has its up and downs. I'm not sure what releasing a skunk would fall under but it went well for me this time. I didn't get sprayed.

I love my job. I work with so many different kinds of animals/reptiles. I love taking time out of the day to educate people as well.
