Our solo pup has a name!! Thank you for all the suggestions and donations. We had lots to choose from and now his name is DUKE!!!
What a stunner! This blue eyed beauty is Dougal! He is about 10 weeks old and ready to start looking for his new family. Dougal is sweet , cuddly, very playful and so smart. Heâs trying is best at potty training and is a good sleeper. He plays hard and sleeps hard.Typical puppy he is very curious and getting into everything but redirects easy enough. How can you resist that face. Dougal is a pitty mix and should mature to be a large dog around 70-80 lbs.
Fina and Fonzie both adopted!! Their wonderful foster put together a tribute video to them. Thank you for caring so much for them!!
GRAPHIC VIDEO! WE NEED TO DO BETTER!
We are so proud to have who we do as fosters! But, we always need more. Foster life is joyful, fun, tiring and rewarding. We need more fosters dedicated to helping animals, if you can please fill out an application to foster through our website www.poundrescue.com.
FOSTER FOUND. THANKS
Newborn kitten needs a nursing mom. We have to find one soon for this little one. We need fosters willing to sacrifice and go that extra bit to help sick found kittens. This is but one of many others needing help. But for now if you have or know a person or rescue with a nursing mom with 10 day old kittens and has room please contact us directly. Text 403-816-0886
River is so beautiful and sweet. She is calm but loves adventures and other dogs. She is all ready for her new home. Her beginning was rough and amazing at the same time. Found under a stationary oil tank at a gas station by a busy Hwy she along with her 5 other siblings and mom survived freezing weather, rain, heat, wind. Feeding only off mom who had to leave for hours at a time to find food for herself so she could feed and keep her pups alive. River came to us with the family a few months back but now that they are all ready they can now start a new life with you. She is housetrained and is learning how to walk on a leash and basic commands. Four of her siblings have been adopted now itâs her time. You wonât find better pups out there. This litter is extremely sweet and chilled!
I was asked the other day (more like a statement not a question)
âYou get paid to do this right?â
Iâm not sure what other rescues do and maybe more should ask this question but our whole board does not get paid. We pull nothing from the rescue so that all the money can go towards animal care. 100% of donations go towards animal care. I personally am helping animals and people from as early as 6:30am to 11:00 at night. Some days itâs nonstop other days not as bad.
Why would I personally sacrifice so much time from my family (and I have a very large family) and from a ânormalâ life. Filling my home and time with animals. Simple: They deserve to be loved and cared for. All of them.
We recently got this little fellow (my kids call him Pirate lol) he was found hungry and with this straight leg. He is only about 10-12 weeks old. Obviously for many many weeks, if not born like this, this poor guy has suffered. He must have been in pain and he had to learn to survive and get what food he could find. We donât need to go overseas or to Mexico to find a case like this each day right here in Alberta.
So simply said HE IS THE REASON I (WE) DO THIS FOR FREE!!!
Canât you open up your hearts, homes and have compassion for these poor animals that would and will continue to suffer right here if we donât help them. Winter is coming, the saddest time of year for us as we know how many will suffer and die.
PLEASE HELP THEM.
Another call we just couldnât not answer. This mom with her two pups were close to a busy Hwy almost got hit several times. Luckily she went in front of one of our great volunteers who stopped when she noticed momma and her foot. It was bad and needed attention right away, but she had two pups about 3 mths old with her and they were timid and scared. Sue saw what was happening and went to help Meg. Sue was very patient and brave. She was able to get the pups. We arrived just before she got the last pup and we rushed mom to the vet to have her foot checked out fearing it may need to be amputated. We decided to try meds to get the swelling and infection under control along with pain meds. We are trying to save the foot. She is beyond sweet and loves people so mom is easy to help. The pups will need patience and love to come out of their shell. Through it all we worry âwhere will they goâ âwho can foster themâ. We scramble to find temporary placement, but luckily we found two places for a few days anyways. So sad that you can see their ribs. All starving and so very thirsty. Warms our hearts to see them eat and drink and knowing they will never have to be so hungry again. But we know there are many more out there in the same condition even worse. We need fosters and people to adopt. Please watch for updates and if you can foster or adopt please do.
We are so excited for tomorrow, come eat food and play with some of our amazing animals that are up for adoption!! Thank you Okotoks No Frills!!
