BRM Reptile Show in Fremont, OH 🔥
As you all have probably noticed by now I'm a big fan of asian spiders.
As a European I obviously noticed many differences between the hobby here in the States vs in my country or in Europe in general and yet, after a few years of living in the U.S. I find myself astonished by the reluctance of most in owning the fearsome "old world" tarantula.
Believe it or not, in the old continent there's no such thing as old and new world tarantula, the general collector simply craves them all.
I think that the big difference is the incredible amount of keepers that just want a pet that they can handle and show off easily, whereas in Europe nobody generally handles them.
This post is a simple reminder that owning tarantulas shouldn't be guided by the inclination of petting or handling them as a spectacle but by the desire to learn and continously study these magnificent animals, possibly behind glass.
Here is an example of one of the genuses most avoided by American keepers: Chilobrachys.
In this case you can admire some of our females of the species C.sp. kaeng krachan.
Judge for yourself the temperament of these amazing spiders ❤️
We finally did it guys! 🙌
