JC's Kitten Purrfection "Kittens in Need, Hearts to Feed, Making Fur-ever Dreams." Our goal is to share the reality of fostering. Fostering isn’t all laughs. We do this because We can.

The joys, laughs, moments that will make you smile and unfortunately yes moments that are hard, stressful, that no one wants to think about. At least not for my husband and I. We take in healthy, sick, injured cats/kittens. We care for them, stay up with them and cry for them.

📚 Our BACK TO BASICS SERIES: "the vacuum effect"
👉 Why "catch and kill" doesn't work.

A vacuum occurs when a population is removed from an area, opening the territory for outsiders to take advantage of it's resources. Some people believe that if you remove cats from an area (catch and kill), you will solve the problem. What they don't realize is that the resources in that area (food and shelter, for example) remain and will attract other cats from neighboring areas to take advantage of those resources.

Why don't we just catch and euthanize the cats in an area rather than TNR them? Because "catch and kill" doesn't work to solve the community cat population problem. Plus, killing otherwise healthy cats is inhumane.

Cats are territorial, so when you remove cats from a territory (when you "catch and kill"), new cats will move in to take advantage of the resources available in that territory. Those cats will also need to be captured, and the cycle will continue to no end. The better solution is to TNR the cats already in the area and let them defend their space against newcomers.

Exterminating community cats does not work to control the cat population. The only proven method is TNR -- and it happens to be the only HUMANE way as well. The attached link leads to a short article from Alley Cat Allies with more details about "the vacuum effect." Support TNR in your community!

Meet Aurora
Aurora is a stunning semi-feral cat who is litter box trained and enjoys sharing her space with people. While she’s not yet comfortable with being touched or picked up, she brings so much joy with her playful and quirky personality. She loves chasing laser dots, feather wands, and adores her toy ostrich, which she often “gifts” by placing it in her water dish overnight.

Although she’s shy, Aurora has made progress in learning to trust. She has shared a bed with my young adult daughter, takes treats from us at close distances, and allows us to sit near her. With patience, love, and understanding, I truly believe she has the potential to become a wonderful companion and may even learn to love pets.

Aurora’s Story
Aurora was living happily in a cat community until 2020, when she was unexpectedly trapped after giving birth to kittens. While her kittens were adopted, Aurora remained indoors. Over time, she found companionship with another cat, Ash, and later with her son Carl. Sadly, both were eventually adopted, leaving Aurora heartbroken and unsure, and alone.

Most recently, the arrival of new rescue cats upset Aurora, leading her to be relocated to a quieter space for her comfort. Now alone again, she longs for a patient adopter who can provide her the stable and loving home she deserves.

Aurora’s ideal home would respect her boundaries, giving her time and space to feel secure and safe. While she may never be a cuddly lap cat, she has a silly and sweet side that shines through once she feels comfortable. She would do better alone or with a male cat companion.

If you’re looking to make a meaningful difference in a cat’s life and are willing to offer patience and understanding, Aurora could be the perfect match for you.

Our Story

we foster through a non-profit organization in Clifton, New York, called KAT’S Purrfect Pals who rescues abandoned cats, pregnant mamas (Queens) and kittens in the capital city. KAT’S fosters keep the kittens in their homes until they are adopted, they never have to go to a shelter. Kittens are kept safe and loved in their foster homes, along with their mamas where possible, until they are at least 2 months old. The kittens are spayed/neutered when they are about 3lbs, and usually will have gotten their rabies shots at 3lbs, and receive their two distemper shots before they are adopted out. KAT’S also hosts adoption events every weekend (though honestly it's so hard to see our precious little babies in those cages even if only for a few hours, so hopefully by spreading the word and getting more and more pictures out there, all our little babies and their mamas will be spoken for before they ever have to go to an event). If you'd like more information about KATs purrfect pals, please see their page.https://www.facebook.com/KATS-Purrfect-Pals-488289491584220/ Thank you for all your care, kindness and support!
