Love has always defined Ruby. At 36 years old, she’s shared her life with three wonderful husbands, including our beloved Thor. When he recently passed, we worried how she’d cope. But instead of shutting down, Ruby found a new path forward.

She’s stepped into a whole new role with our donkeys, watching over, guiding, and caring for them like their mother. And just as she nurtures those around her, we make sure Ruby has everything she needs to thrive.

Ruby has always received dedicated senior care, but her new heart disease diagnosis means we’re doing more than ever. She receives veterinary care, massage therapy, red light therapy, acupuncture, and her daily Sun Chlorella USA to support her immune system and overall wellness. Every bit helps her feel her best and enjoy life to the fullest.

Ruby teaches us that love is not limited to one chapter of our lives. Even after loss, it can change forms, move forward, and continue giving 💚

Our new cow Jethro has found comfort in some very special toys 🥹

Jethro was born in a dairy and taken from his mom at just a day old. He was rescued and raised by a woman who loved him, but for seven years, he was the only cow. When his caregiver tragically passed away, Jethro’s owner could no longer care for him, so she reached out to us to bring Jethro to The Gentle Barn California.
After our cow John Lewis moved to our Sun Chlorella Healing Center, we kept his toys in the barnyard for comfort, and Jethro went right to them when he arrived!

Jethro never got to experience a childhood, running around open pastures with a loving family by his side. When he came to us, it was clear that the whole world was new to him. With the help of his new herd, Lewis’ fluffy toys, bedtime cookies, love, and patience, Jethro is starting to feel at home 💚

After living in fear, he was finally safe 🥹
Einstein lived alone for years, surviving in an abandoned lot and escaping every attempt to rescue him. When winter came again and neighbors told us about him, we started setting out food and water to earn his trust. Eventually Einstein began to accept our help, and we were able to bring him home to The Gentle Barn where he could finally rest and heal.

Once in sanctuary, Einstein got everything he had gone without for so long: safety, fresh food, thick bedding, and loving care. He received acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic care, and Sun Chlorella USA algae superfood to help keep him healthy and strong. Over time, he learned to enjoy affection, accept pets from guests, and soak in the love all around him.

Einstein went from living in fear to spending every day surrounded by love, friends, and comfort. We’re so grateful he got to live the gentle, peaceful life he was always meant to have, and he’ll forever remain in our hearts 💚
