Sorry, we haven't been posting much. Mom got a new job and is adjusting to new things.

Hope all our friends are doing well. We're still doing good. Enjoying the cooler days and being able to take our walks at a reasonable hour.

We had a vet appt yesterday and got a good report and was told that Athena looks fantastic for her age. That makes us feel good and makes us see that we're doing all the right things for her well being. But he wasn't happy that we've about pulled the plug on dock diving. He said.. she's loves it so much, let her enjoy it. I had to explain level 15 out of 10 for Athena, and I couldn't let her keep doing level 15. 😆

I've learned to enjoy all the things with Athena. We're on the next phase of dog sports, just a slower more reasonable level of it. ❤️

It's time for the yearly then and now pic, this seems to be our tradition based on my memories. ♥️

10 weeks old..
and now 11 years old

Likes - Still loves her dock and now scent work. Enjoys lizard hunts. Has taken some great vacations last year and still travels well. Her singing voice is still in tip top shape. 😂😂 Loves people and attention. We still need to work on getting her to be a therapy dog, maybe this year. ♥️

Dislikes - Fireworks and loud noises. Here recently, loud muffler cars and motorcycles. Vets are still on her least liked list. Leaving her dock. 😄

She tends to sleep a bit more but still likes to be on the go. I think her diet, supplements, holistic care and keeping her active has done so many good things to her lifestyle. I'm grateful for the friends who have helped and guided us on the best care for her. She seems to be still doing well. 🥰

Santa brought Athena a new custom BrilliantK9 harness.

We have a few of their harnesses already and love them. Never have we had any issues with them, we've used them in dog sports for years. You can even toss them in the gentle cycle and air dry after a dirty day in the pool or at the beach.

Highly recommend. ♥️😃⭐️

What a phenomenal year it's been for our sweet girl Athena.

Athena wrapped up her final season doing Fast CAT being ranked in the top 5 since 2016 out of 173 cavaliers for last year. She earned her invite to attend invitationals but sadly declined due to the location. We attended our final retirement event in May of this year with good friends in Perry. 🏁♥️.

She ended her 10th and last officially ranked season with NADD with a 12'6 average for the season. She can still fly off that dock even at 11yrs old. I told her maybe 1 or 2 events a year now.

As Athena turns the page into another year, we've pulled back from NADD events and focused more on Scent Work. We finished off our Novice Overall Elite Title and now are working on our Advanced Elite titles and throwing in some Excellent runs. She amazes me with how much she loves it.

As we close out our 2024, we're grateful for all the friends who continue to encourage and support us. Every day is a blessing with her.

Yesterday we went and had a fun filled swim day. Mom says, this is what we plan on doing instead of events after we get out last title in February.

Its calm, peaceful.. no stress and most importantly it's great exercise. I was pretty tired when I got home, got my bath and dinner and slept the rest of the day.

We also got to see our friend, Michele Dorais-Hood and meet Winston. He was quite the gentleman and ignored me the whole time. 🤣🤣 He also wasn't trying to steal my pool. 😆

Oh.. it should be noted some things never change, I yelled at everyone about not having enough time in the pool and then tried to bribe them with kisses. It didnt work, mom cut me off after 30mins. 😅😅

Happy 💦💦

It feels like a lifetime since we've done a dock event, ok.. it was August, but whose counting? 😅 I initially planned on going to the Orlando Convention Center to chase that last infamous jump for a title. But plans fell through.

Lately, I've put things on the calendar for the dock, and fate intervenes, and we end up not going. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Maybe February.. or possibly March. 😆😆

Until then.. it's scent work and maybe some swim time to stay conditioned... and celebrate the holidays. 🌲

I love dog sports, but it feels good to hold on to that money a little longer. 😁

A day late.. Miss Athena and had her spa day yesterday with our friend Tierney Frenken Worthen. We're supposed to get some Christmas pics done this weekend with our friend Kim with Blue Dog Photography and are looking forward to it.

Maybe i can keep her somewhat clean until then. Doubtful i know.. ❤️😅

Our Excellent Buried run from yesterday! Practicing at home paid off. I'm glad I let her shake and paused a moment before calling. You'll see her move on after the shake. Needless to say, I was so excited and proud. This was the only Excellent run we signed up for. I wanted to see how she would do first. Rose Brophy ❤️

I figured a comb was near by, why not comb a bit. But.. the recipient of the comb was not impressed. Just say no to combs! 👸😂

Mom gets a long weekend so I broke her in with a nice walk. 😅😅 We get see so see some friends at Scent Work this weekend and we're looking forward to it! 👃👃 Happy ThursFriDay!! 🙌

Happy Wednesday!!! Our activities have slowed down some the past couple weeks. Its good to have some down time for a bit. It allows me to catch up on house chores (the not so fun stuff). Athena was a feeling a bit under the weather for a couple days. Made a call into the vet for some nausea meds for acid reflux. Went and picked it up yesterday on my way to work. I came home to this. I guess it's out of her system? 😆😆 I told her beforehand no walk until she felt better. She did about 12 laps around the yard. Ok.. well, I guess she took her own walk. 😂😂 Glad she's feeling better. I guess the meds will stay put up for another time. She can still book it for an 11yr old. ❤️

It's not often she barks at other dogs on TV. 😆📣

Happy #wetdogwednesday 💦 Taken a couple weeks ago. We have a dock event coming up in a couple weeks and then that's it until next summer. I plan on still booking some dock rental in between that so she can still enjoy her swim and dock time. It's good for her plus her theatrics doesn't come out like regular events. 😆 I sure will miss dock events, no doubt about it. ❤️
