Despite less than favourable weather conditions early in the morning, the sun eventually shone for our third agility trial on Saturday 27th July.
The dogs didn't seem to mind the wet start, probably because they were dry inside while their handlers were out in the rain. And there were some great runs on the lovely courses provided by our judges - Katie Jones in the agility ring and Cathy Reade in the jumping ring. Many thanks to our hard working judges who calmly accepted the wet start and got on with the job.
The club is grateful to our loyal sponsors, The Dog Project and the Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital Dapto. With their help our sucessful teams were rewarded for their efforts.
But regardless of a sucessful run or a run where things didn't go to plan as often happens, it's always rewarding to see people having fun with their dogs.
We look forward to our next trial in March next year.

Pictured below is Barbara Inskip and Jazz. Barbara was happy qualifying in two classes and Jazz loves her new toys.

Apologies for the delayed post ( technical issues) but we would like to report on our second agility trial for the year.
Our trial was delayed for 2 weeks due to wet grounds, but was finally held on Saturday, 29th of June.
It was a lovely sunny day although the recent rains meant our running areas were a little bit further away from their usual spots.
We appreciate the understanding of our competitors and all the help offered on the day particularly the extra carrying of equipment.
Many thanks to our judges who gave us some great courses, Jim Hull in our agility ring and Katie Jones in our jumping ring.
Some great runs on the day. Successful teams were rewarded with prizes supplied by our loyal sponsors, The Dog Project and The Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital at Dapto. Happy dogs everywhere!

Another enjoyable agility trial was held on Saturday, 16th March at King Memorial Oval. While the rain did arrive during presentations it was a lovely cooler day.
A huge thank you to our loyal sponsors who made it possible to reward some great runs and true partnerships between handlers and dogs.

The Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, Dapto, our local full service independent veterinary service who have always been very supportive of our community dog sports.

The Dog Project , whose positive, rewards based dog training has a focus on developing great relationships between dog and owners.
Which I find is so enjoyable to see in the sport of agility.

With our sponsors support the club provided well deserved prizes of yummy dog treats and an assortment of fun dog toys to tickle any dogs fancy.

We were lucky enough to be able to award gift packs from Whifti Walks to two lucky winners. Each gift bag contained a new product that provides a safe smell free way to transport those irksome used poo bags! Plus a supply of bags to use and a lovely vegan lead.
Check out https://whiftiwalks.com for details.

A big thank you to our agility judge Siegfried Clever, and Katie Jones, our judge in the jumping ring.

The club is always grateful for the many helping hands on the day!

Stay tuned for our next agility trial on Saturday the 15th June. Looking forward to another fun day!

Back to Basics returns!
We are running our 6-week basic training class, Back to Basics, beginning on Sunday 3 March. It will run on our grounds, King Memorial Oval, in Warilla.
The class covers:
- Play and food as reinforcement (reward);
- Games for relationship-building and breaks during training sessions;
- Sit, building to sit stay;
- Recalls;
- Loose-leash walking;
- Manners at barriers (doors, gates, car doors, crates);
- Impulse control;
- Introduction to shaping behaviours.

The cost for this for 6-week class is $120.

Numbers will be limited.

Please message us if you are interested.

We have had more expressions of interest than people we have room for in our Agility Foundation class starting next week. People are welcome to still try, as not everyone has committed, but there may not be room for you. Sorry about that.
We will run another one of these at some stage, but not in the foreseeable future.

06/10/2023

We are starting a 6-week Agility Foundation class on Sunday mornings in mid to late October. This class is aimed at people who can see themselves possibly getting involved in the sport of agility if they find they like it, or at least coming to weekly training once they and their dogs have the necessary skills.
The Foundation class will not look a lot like agility. It will concentrate on teaching handlers some training mechanics and handling skills and building dogs' body awareness and confidence, so, not just playing around on conventional agility equipment from the outset.
It will involve homework (sorry 🙂).
The aim is to set dogs and their people up for a successful progression into actual agility. Agility is a lot more fun when based on a solid foundation.
Class numbers will be limited and the cost will be $120.
We currently have one class full but there are limited places in a second class which will run immediately after the first.
(Note that classes will run at our training grounds in Warilla, NSW, Australia - we sometimes get enquiries from overseas...).
If you are interested, please message us and provide your email address, and we will be in touch.

Saturday, 29th July saw another brilliant day for our last agility trial for this year.
Some great courses from our agility judge Katie Jones, and our jumping judges Terry and Helen Hillman. Handlers and dogs were up for a challenge and we saw some lovely partnerships at work and great runs.
The club had support from our local sponsors The Dog Project , Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, Dapto , and from H&K SportDog Raw
which was appreciated.
I sure saw some happy dogs at our presentations at the end of the day.
What makes a dog happier than a great day running agiliy? More toys and treats provided by our sponsors of course! See picture below of two happy competitors whose poodles were pretty pleased with their new toys. Which I am sure they'll share with their siblings. H&K SportDog Raw provided two vouchers to purchase from an array of healthy raw dog food choices or yummy treats.
The vouchers were awarded to The Run of the Day in both rings by the respective judges. Anne Robertson with her sheltie, Wish, in the jumping ring and Barbara Inskip with Jazz in the agility ring were the lucky recipients. Well, their dogs sure will be.

The club appreciates all the support and help on the day.
Hope to see everybody back having fun running their beautiful dogs next year.

The weather was beautiful, sunny and dry for our trial on Saturday, 17th June.
So grateful to all the team that worked to bring the trial together. Our club members, our knowledgeable judges and as always, the adaa competitors who pitch in and help on the day to make it happen.
The club is so grateful to our local sponsors who again made it possible for the club to provide great prizes for our sucessful teams.
Of course we had yummy dog treats but also a selection of toys which seemed very popular. And yes, we made sure we had a selection for our smaller competitors. Seems the toy dogs are on fire as always.
Prizes were provided by our sponsors The Dog Project and the Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital, Dapto.
Rachel Mahoney from The Dog Osteo sponsored "The Dog of the Day" competition providing gift certificates for an inital consultation.
The two recipients were chosen by our judges, Vanessa Dowson (jumping) and Alyssa Ablitt ( agility).
Reegan Rollings and her dog Finn ( jumping) as well as Barbara Inskip and her Jazz (agility).
I am sure these dogs will feel great after their treatment.
This is our second trial for the year and we look forward to our next trial on 29th July.
