My third female laid 4 beautiful, big eggs today. That's 11 eggs in total, all due to hatch within a week of each other at the end of June.

My favorite part of Springtime: my tortoises come out of brumation to eat and soak up the sun!

I observed all of them eating today, and all are active. Took a few of them a day or two to fully come back.

For those who don't know: my Russian tortoises spend about 4 months Nov-Mar in bins of dirt in a fridge that is set to 38°F (3.5°C). They enter a state in which their breathing and heartbeat slow down significantly, so their bodies burn very little energy.
In the wild, this species digs down below the frost line and spends all winter in their burrow. Arkansas gets too much rain for me to safely let them winter outside, so instead, the go in the fridge.

This year's CB2 (2nd generation captive bred) Russian tortoise babies are growing beautifully and will be ready for their new homes in Spring 2024 once they reach 100g.

Watch Glitch walk! She seems to have a little bit of left-sided weakness, but she gets around just fine. She eats well, and you can see a little bit of new growth.

I would like to introduce you to our newest and most unusual little resident here: "Glitch"

She hatched here on Monday, and has a severe scute anomaly. She is active and alert. We hope that she will be able to grow up and live a fairly normal life.

It's finally the time of year where my Russian tortoises are up from brumation, and get to stomp around their habitats grazing.
I've taken a few years off from breeding due to our big move across the country, but this year I plan to breed Russian tortoises again. I should have babies hatching in June and July if all goes well.

The Russian tortoises are still hibernating/brumating for 2 weeks, but Pandora the baby leopard tortoise got to enjoy a stroll in the juvenile habitat outside.
Not scared at all, she immediately started to graze.

This handsome little 2 year old captive bred MALE Russian tortoise is available and looking for an awesome family. He hatched in 2019 and was one of several holdbacks I raised with the intent of keeping. However, I don't really need more males.
His parents are my Timmy girl and my Roz.

He is healthy and friendly and outgoing, and has been living in a naturalistic outdoor habitat 24/7 since this April. Before that, he was started with a hot humid hide, daily soaks, good weeds and wild flowers, and daily sunshine as weather permitted.
He successfully brumated in the fridge last winter, but this is optional.
He is very clearly a male, he has sprouted a long tail and has flashed his boy bits.
For serious inquiries within the USA, please send me a private message. You absolutely MUST have an escape proof, predator proof outdoor space for him for at least the warm months of the year, and be willing to provide proper indoor space, heat and UV for cold months.
