I know I’ve been lack to update this page, but between work and life itself, I simply couldn’t maintain it. As it is, I wanted to do a final few updates.

As many of you know, my sweet Smelly Kitty Jutsu crossed the rainbow bridge, 3 weeks ago today. She celebrated her 19th bday in August, but sadly, a tumor was found under her tongue at the end of August into September, and our time together was cut rapidly short.

I’ll be linking my Instagram for people to follow for her 365 Moments tribute, if they so wish.

My third recommendation for a gift to any new kitty parent, is a very specific brand of toy. The Yeowww! Catnip toys!

I can't express how much my fur baby has loved these toys. How much my parents cat, Smoke, has loved these toys. They are 100% organic USA grown catnip toys, with no other filler, and durable to last years of play time. I've reviewed their toys before, and they continue to be a staple in my home well after that review. Smelly would even go to these toys during her cancer treatment days as a steady source of entertainment, while snubbing all of her other consistent favorites.

They come in a variety of sizes, styles, and themes, though the most popular is the banana per kitty parents. Smelly's personal favorites are the Little Stinkies and the Apple toy. The price can range between $4.00-$10.00 average depending on the toy itself.

You can find them at local holistic pet stores, Amazon, and Chewy. I personally prefer to shop local stores, however Chewy offers great prices on some specific toys.

If you're looking for the best catnip toy, hands down, on the market- look no further than Yeowww! Catnip Toys. For more information on their products and the brand itself, I'll leave the link below.

The second recommendation I will make for a gift for any new kitty parent, is a fountain! There are lots of cool and amazing fountains out there for cats, but I personally always recommend ceramic, steel, or a steel water base. The reason being, is to avoid kitty acne with the plastic, and ease of care.

Water fountains are wonderful investments, because cats need a lot of moisture in their diets. They are biologically programmed as well, to be drawn to running water. It's why they love kitchen sinks! Water fountains encourage them to drink more, which helps stave off issues with their kidneys down the road. A lot of kidney issues seen in cats, is from a lack of proper moisture - be that from not drinking enough water with stagnant water sources, or strictly being fed dry kibble.

I have not done a review just yet on the fountain that I have come to love, but it'll be coming soon. This particular fountain I purchased due to the light feature in it, that doubles as a night light for my senior fluff. While its tank base is plastic, it is easy to clean with a steel water base for drinking.

The best advice I can give on any water fountain you might choose for either a new pet parent, or yourself, is to research it. Avoid fully plastic fountains and make sure that the filters are readily available for the model you choose.

Smelly's current fountain a Wonder Creature, with a link below for where to purchase it. This particular fountain is easy to clean, very nice for my apartment setting, and has a light feature that doubles as a great night light for elderly cats.

The first recommendation from Smelly and myself, for any new kitty parent, is a gift subscription to KitNipBox

The wonderful thing about something like KitNipBox, is that you could gift one box, or a year subscription of wonderful goodies to a new kitty parent. It also allows for new cat parents to get a feel for what their cat or kitten may, or may not like, and it provides a variety of things for the pet parent to try.

The products you get in these boxes is varied between toys, treats, even some grooming supplies like wall brushes. All products are well made from local artists or top brand suppliers, and edible products are made in the United States and Canada, sometimes from Europe, New Zealand, or Australia.

The boxes you can order or gift also range in size and price point. The Happy Cat KitNipBox is $19.99/month and comes with 5 goodies. The Multi-Cat KitNipBox is $29.99/month and comes with 7 goodies.

They also have a no treat or food option for kitties with allergies! They simply substitute what would have been a treat, with another item like additional toys.

You can also cancel this subscription at any time.

I've reviewed this particular subscription before, and given that I recommended it then, I certainly continue to do so.

I am going to take this time to apologize to Smelly's followers for the extended silence on this page. Now that life is coming to a slow halt, I have the opportunity to do so, as well as explain the absence. The past year and a half has been a long and trying one for both Smelly and myself. She had begun to have minor seizures, and they couldn't find the reason. MRI's, X-Rays, and blood work galore was done to try to find the cause. It was discovered that she had a mass pressing against her nerves along her spine that was difficult to feel. She underwent surgery, which was risky at her age, the mass was removed and did test positive as cancer. Following that, I agreed to treatment for the next year. She had her follow-up in January of this year, to check her blood-work and for any return of the mass, and I am happy to report that as of right now, she is cancer free with no return. It was discovered however, that now arthritis is setting in on her back and hips. It has not been easy an emotional or financial level, however, I am so blessed that she is still with me and doing very well. Her veterinary staff have been wonderful and amazing, and with her arthritis currently being managed, she's up to her usual antics. I am planning to revamp her page in the coming months, and perhaps, start her an Instagram as well. This is all dependent on her, since I am not going to push her to use new products or pose for any photography that she's not up to. I thank everyone that stayed with the page despite the silence, and hope, to bring a little joy back with the beauty of one, Smelly Kitty Jutsu.

Merry Christmas from Smelly and family!
