Our organization is comprised entirely of volunteers with different expertise and experience but who share a common goal, to protect, care for and help as many animals as we can. We are in need volunteers for cleaning and helping care for the animals at our adoption center at PetSmart in Dickson City, PA. Volunteers are also needed to help with various other events or periodic transport. If you wo
uld like to volunteer please contact us at [email protected]. ACA provides a safe haven for all of our animals while they await adoption. Our no-kill policy allows each animal as much time as they need to find the right home or it gives them a permanent home with us if all placement efforts fail. The foster home environment allows us to observe each animal's behavior around other animals and different people so that we can help prospective adopters choose a pet that will fit their house or apartment, their family and their lifestyle. Because many of our animals were abandoned or are strays, we spend as much time as we can with each one so that they become accustomed to being pet, held and being around people again. We also provide any needed medical care and treatment including vaccinations, spaying/neutering, proper nutrition, grooming and surgery if necessary. Given all the above information, please take special note that we are a small, all volunteer organization. While we would LOVE nothing more than to help every animal we are contacted about but, we must commit first to those who are already under our care. Thank you for your understanding. We sometimes are really overwhelmed with emails and messages. Updates are always the light that provides the energy for us to continue & this one was so wonderful we just had to share with everyone!
Garfield (now Colby Jack) went home to a prior adopter over the weekend leaving us right from his foster home. He joined us as one of several kitties from a cruelty case recently. He doesn’t know what it’s like to have a ‘normal’ life. Fast forward just a few days into transition and he’s doing WODNERFUL! They’re doing exactly what is needed to set him and their existing household up for success by taking their time to transition him into the family.
From adopter:
“I just wanted to give you an update on Colby Jack (formerly Garfield). He's the sweetest little ginger cat ever! It took a few days for him to warm up to his new surroundings, but now that he's no longer in hiding and adventuring around in his "I'm new here, let me adjust to this place" room, he is just the sweetest! He gives the best head bumps and has the most adorable little chirping meow that I've ever heard! He's even begging to roam the house which I've only gradually been doing since he gets spooked very easily, especially with loud noises (which in a house with 3 kids and a dog, can be very loud 😅). But he has made the most amazing progress in such a short amount of time and he even made his first blanket biscuits 😭. He's definitely going to be a cuddler and I cannot wait for the day he trusts us completely enough to sleep in my lap. Until then, we will match his pace and give him all the love we have! We love Colby Jack so much and we're so glad he's part of our family!”
This is ALL fantastic news! We have no doubt that this little guy who came to us skinny with fleas and an upper respiratory infection, gooey eyes, & missing fur chunks is now finding out what happily ever after means!

Thank you for the few recent orders sent of supplies. I’m sure I missed thanking a few as we literally are using and distributing supplies as they arrive from donations and our auto deliveries. It’s always a wonderful surprise for our fosters to not worry about making sure we have what we need to take care of everyone. We appreciate anyone contributing towards our supply purchases at Stately Pet Supply as well. We are typically there weekly or biweekly.
We realize so many are struggling, we are also as donations have slowed. Your support means we can continue to care for everyone and be responsible about making new intake decisions of more in need.
All of the faces you see here and so many more appreciate the support given to care for them. Thank you so much for keeping our kitties on your mind! We are nothing without our volunteers & supporters.

Good morning furriends! We are officially caught up on emails and messages as of this morning. If you were waiting to hear from us and have not gotten a reply please reach out again. We have had several emails going into the junk folder again. It’s very frustrating and we’re not sure how to fix it. We don’t want anyone to be ignored.
Applications are in process and we ask that you please check your phone and email for outreach from us if you are awaiting to hear back.
Please be patient with us as we are all volunteers doing our best to manage everything needed. Doing things right takes time!
I also want to take a moment to thank anyone who recently sent supplies or donations to us. We have been swamped and I’m pretty sure we got a couple deliveries in the last few weeks that I didn’t have time to picture and post. We want you to know we appreciate you all.

As many of you know, when we go quiet on social media it’s because there is too much going on behind the scenes to manage and we were not prepared enough to keep you entertained and informed. Our apologies but this happens in rescue life sometimes. This little guy is just one of the reasons why. More to come on his antics.

Forgive me but this may end up being a long post that I don’t have time to write but need to.
First… If you have pets, please have a plan for them in the event of emergency or worse with you as their caretaker. I don’t care how young or old you are. It’s part of being there for them. Don’t let that plan be assuming a rescue or shelter will be there to handle it for you.
Second… we are quite literally begging for fosters. The requests for help are coming in beyond what any of us can handle. We are full as many are, and these situations continue to happen and pile up. This kitty lost its owner and the landlord put it outside in a cage. This poor cat is friendly but clearly confused and doesn’t understand what is going on or where his person is.
Please have some compassion to make a difference in even just 1 life! Use that spare room, basement/garage space, extra bedroom or office to give a fresh start for a new life to a cat in need. We have a LIST of those in need. Please reach out with questions or apply and we will be happy to talk with you about options.
YOU can make a difference! YOU can be the person who creates a new beginning to a life that deserves it.

We asked and you came through! We want everyone who sent beds to know how much we appreciate this. We go through them quite often as they get worn being washed constantly especially in medical/intake quarantine. 😻 Garfield and Katy Purry most likely never had a bed from the animal control situation they came from. They clearly didn’t have medical care or proper nourishment but we have changed ALL of that already. Garfield’s eyes have cleared up and both of them are eating well to improve their weight. 🫶 We will continue to do this for as many kittens and cats in need as we are able to. We must have community support to do so. In rescue life, there is no such thing as a ‘break’. It just doesn’t stop. Those in need for help never lessens despite ALL the effort put forth by so many rescuers already. It’s a HUMAN problem. It’s not a ‘cat’ problem. The humans failed them. The humans are the ones who are not being responsible and choosing to not provide necessary vet care their animals, it’s the humans taking on more than they can handle, & it’s the humans allowing them to reproduce. The cats can’t take themselves to the vet. They can’t pick up a phone and ask for help. They can’t search online to see what options are out there for assistance. Until they can, they are relying on US to do something about it. They need proper nutrition, vaccinations to prevent deadly illnesses, deworming and flea treatment to prevent parasites and skin issues, and SPAY & NEUTER! Meet Katy Purry… because yes, she sings, dances, & purrs! Her life has been turned around the last few days because thankfully animal control is working to make sure the animals are finally getting what they deserve. She’s underweight and has hair loss most likely due to malnourishment. She’s one of 2 kitties we squeezed in to assist from a multi pet situation in need from this past weekend. These situations are encountered DAILY. It’s happening TOO OFTEN. They can’t be rescued without willing foster placement and funding to cover their medical and daily care expenses. Some may call this kitten cuteness. While you won’t get an argument from me they are adorable (especially at this stage)… I sadly am reminded by how many more are being born daily from lack of spay & neuter. I think of the ones we aren’t able to commit to without having a foster or funding to cover what they need. The list for help continues grow each day.
