Nothing says “happy horse” like Gino’s post alfalfa mash face 🤪💚

Winter update: Gino is sound at walk trot on the ground! Just waiting for the snow to melt so we can do a little longreining in the round pen before I hop on. I always spend time longreining after he has substantial time off to protect his back/top line. I want to make sure he loosened up and stong enough to use himself correctly to prevent him inverting and causing more inflammation/discomfort when I get on. Help me summon the sun 😎🌞

Merry Christmas Eve! Gino weathered the storm so well these past few days. Thankfully we saw some much needed sun shine today. Almost 3 full days in a row of temps in negatives with wind chills as low as -24🥶Gino has never experienced cold like this but he was calm and comfy the entire time, he even spent a lot more time outside of his shed than I thought he would. Can’t thank my barn staff enough for supplying ample hay and keeping a close eye on all of our horses ☃️

Shoutout to the BEST boyfriend for building Gino and I our very own cavelettis. They are set to be 6,12,18, or 24 inches. Today we did our first baby jumps in CO! Then we went for a walk around the farm and Gino saw horses working cattle for the first time!

🍂Today was one for the books! We had an amazing ride in the outdoor with a fun bounce pole exercise followed by our first hack around the galloping track, which traces the entire perimeter of the farm. Not only did we walk all the down to the road for the first time, but we trotted uphill all the way back to the barn!
This horse has exceeded my expectations in every way this past year… truly my heart horse. 🍂

The mountains were so clear today! I’m still not over this view.. and the weather! The sun is so much stronger out here, it’s lovely! High 70s by noon, clear skies, and sweater weather at night… seriously why doesn’t everyone live in CO???

The pictures just don’t do the mountain view justice! Gino was a superstar for both our ride today and hack around the property. Bulah was too sleepy to come to the barn today.

Body check!! First photo was taken in May of 2022 (only 2 months back into riding after having the entire winter off, second photo was taken in June, and the last two photos were taken yesterday!! Love that his top line has fillled out and his bum has rounded 💪🏼

Chunky Gino is right on track for getting fit enough for riding this spring! He had three months off this winter and has spent the past month long-lining. Now we’re kicking it up a notch and waiting for the weather to warm up so we can hit the trails and have some fun!
