The name “Praise Lane Dobermans” was chosen as my homage to a woman and her dog-centered, dog-loving family. Tami Lane is one of the most passionate people I have met; whether it be in regards to Dobermans, her animals, work, family or faith. She possesses qualities that are admirable not just in a breeder, but also as a person. Tami has taught me more about this breed than any book I’ve read. I admire her experience in raising and showing Dobermans, as well as other breeds. She answers my questions - big or small, silly or important - without hesitation or judgement. I value her ethics and morals and I love her heart. Without her, none of this would have ever been possible. I am so grateful.
Over three years ago, I was an experienced dog owner, but in-experienced Doberman owner. I’ve loved Dobermans all of my life. I patiently waited to find the right breeder and perfect fit, searching a few years from state-to-state. I would see photos on breeder web pages of these beautiful dogs, but noticed they had smaller frames. Whereas there is absolutely nothing wrong with that - in my mind I pictured my Doberman as a larger, muscular powerhouse. I found these desired qualities with a stroke of luck when I located breeder Shelby Williams in Kansas. After a long conversation and a thorough interview, she referred me to breeder Tami Lane in St. Louis. It just so happened that at this time Tami had one red male left from her recent litter, and was only 35 minutes from me. (Talk about fate!) Thanks to Shelby and especially Tami, my dream of ownership was about to come true.
Caliber, aka Sho Me’s Wreckless Behavior, is a beautiful red male that came home in March of 2016. It took me two days to choose his name but only two seconds for him to have my heart. If you are lucky enough to have a “dog soulmate” in your life, you can understand this bond. Caliber is most definitely mine. Cal is tall, powerful, energetic, intelligent, protective, loving and beautiful. He is always by my side and is the best spooning partner around. He smiles when he is excited, and that is quite often!
In February of 2018, Reva (short for Revolver) aka Sho Me’s Black Revolver, joined our family. Caliber and Reva quickly became inseparable and together now have produced two litters. She is black and rust, and always happy. Her whole body wiggles when she sees her family, and she is quite the protector and equally a lover. We are extremely blessed to have these beautiful dogs!
