The problem with giving puppies and guinea pigs Christmas presents are that it takes roughly a week to realize how much work it is to take care of them. Thousands of pets are returned to shelters after the holidays, and there’s nothing more heartbreaking than an animal thinking they have found a home, only to be rejected and sent away. Don’t be one of those people this year: only get a pet if you’re ready for the major commitment that comes with them.
