Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
My name is Sally, and I have always loved animals, and have always thought of ways I could work with them, and now I’ve found my chance.
I’ve always had both dogs and cats from a very young age, my first cat was called ‘Porky Beans’ and my first dog was ‘Neddy’. At 8 years old my family moved to South Africa and we soon rescued two dogs Taffy and Sayla and a cat called Kitty. 4 Years later it was time to return to England, and my Mum and Dad announced to me that we would be bringing the dogs with us but not my cat. I was absolutely distraught and offered to give up pocket money for life!! So, Kitty did come back with us, and we went to visit all 3 pets in quarantine kennels every weekend for 6 months until they were able to come home. I spent most of my time in Kitty’s pen, and to this day I still have a photo of him on my dressing table.
As a family once Taffy, Sayla and Kitty had all gone, we went back to the RSPCA and got Bruno a gorgeous GSD cross Colly. He came to live we me when I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband Mark), along with the two cats we soon rescued called Whisky and Brandy. We lost Bruno in 2005 and although we missed him dearly, it wasn’t long before we realised we couldn’t live without a dog, and we got our new puppy Cinders, my lovely Black Labrador Retriever. She is 12.5 years old now and still going strong. We also rescued Hayley, the beautiful Golden Retriever from the Irish Retriever Rescue in Ireland. We then had two dogs and two cats all living in harmony together.
Over the years we gradually lost Whisky in 2011 (16yrs old), then Brandy in 2012 (14 yrs old) and then sadly Hayley in December 2013, leaving Cinders on her own. I began to miss having a cat in the house, and in Jan 2015 we rescued our gorgeous Dexy who was sent back from Cyprus via a charity organised by a friend of a friend. Then when on holiday in the summer of 2015 at a family villa a lovely scrawny little black and white cat came to stay, we gave her a brush, food and water, and she stayed. We named her Rocky. My Mum then arrived 3 weeks after us and for the next 3-4 weeks she also looked after Rocky. We were all sad and worried about leaving her for the winter. However the following year in August, who should turn up halfway through our holiday, but Rocky, this time with a scrunched up ear and looking a little more worse for wear than the year before. I realised that I couldn’t bear to leave her this time, and started speaking to a Charity in Menorca who helped me organise her pet passport and transport back to the UK. She came to live with us in September 2016. So we now have two cats normally used to hotter climates, but both have settled in extremely well, are lovely family pets and we couldn’t possibly be without them.
