Practicing recall and hand signals. Lyric has been off leash on the property since the day she got here. Recall and staying nearby are the two most important things for my dogs. She’s doing great!

My name is Lyric and I’m a baby Maligator. I’m one of the cutest things you’ll ever see! Mom says I look like a baby fruit bat.
I don’t like it when mom isn’t close by. I cry if she walks away and follow her until she picks me up. I wouldn’t mind if she carried me around all the time. Bedtime is my favorite because I get to snuggle with mom and some of my big sisters on the big bed. Sometimes I wake up at night and realize that I’m not right next to mom so I go and give her big kisses all over her face. That usually leads to biting her nose and chewing on her hair. What can I say, I am a Maligator! This morning mom got a drink from a big water bottle but I thought it was an alien attacking her face. I pounced and attacked it and chased it away from her face. I’m brave! I bark at the scary vacuum cleaner but then I run away when it starts moving. It’s a lot bigger than me so that seems like the best thing to do. I bark at lots of things but I always stay safe by keeping my distance.
The worst thing, absolutely the worst, is the crate. Mom makes me go in there sometimes and then she leaves!! I sing the songs of my people very very loudly and for a long time! Mom says that’s how I got my name. I’m such a good singer!
Some of my big sisters are kind of grumpy but Bijou is fun, she always wants to play with me. Always! Sometimes I get tired and want to take a nap but she still tries to play. It’s lots of fun in the morning though. I sleep good next to mom and have lots of energy at 5:00 am. Mom gives me a good breakfast of my food mixed with a little pumpkin which is delicious! She says I can try a little liver this weekend. Not sure what that is but I like everything! We have good treats too. This morning I found a kitty toy and I had it in my mouth when mom brought me a treat. I tried to eat the treat without letting go of the kitty toy but it didn’t work so I let mom take the toy.
Yesterday, I got to go out into the woods with mom and my sisters. That was fun! Lots of sticks and leaves and good things to eat. I like to chase my big sister, Bijou when she chases her ball. She’s pretty fast so I can’t catch her, yet, but I will! We have a toy box with lots of fun things to chew on and play with but I still really like to chew on mom. This morning I played tug o war with Bijou. Rita kept barking at me, she’s one of the grumpy ones.
Life is pretty good here, except for mom leaving sometimes and that awful crate. I’m sure I have lots of adventures ahead!

We have a special birthday today!
Ivy is 12!
Ivy, named for the Roman numeral 4, IV because she was the fourth to join the family. Ivy is the only one of the original Shepherds still with us and despite her terrible hips and fondness for eating anything she can get in her mouth, she’s still going strong!

Baby Bijou is growing up so fast!
She’ll be 10 months this month.
What a perfect puppy she’s been! If I could design the perfect puppy, it would be her!
I’ve always suspected that there could be some German Shepherd in her and DNA results say it’s true! Supposedly 47% GSD, 44% Belgian Malinois and 9 % Kelpie.
100% sweet, lovable and perfect!

I got my best Christmas present back in August! Baby Bijou is six months old now and what a dream puppy she has been.

Bijou got to see snow for the first time last week! I think she likes it. She keeps bringing chunks of snow or ice into the house.
