The dream became reality in 1992, when Sharon Kay Doherty took a break from showing dogs to work with he

r nephew to create a line of dog grooming products. "There were no authentic salon grooming formulas for dogs", according to Sharon. "The shampoos and conditioners available contained either oil or lanolin in the formulas, which weren't good for the hair and skin." Sharon Kay's knowledge of the dog show world and her knowledge of dog hair and skin, combined with David's background in chemistry harmonized into bringing forth quality grooming formulas to the dog show network and pampered pet owners. Sharon's daughter Teri joined the Vellus team in 2000 having worked alongside and mentored by Sharon from 2000-2015. Teri has fond memories of always having a dog in the house and later as a teen and young adult, attending dog shows with her mother. As the President of Vellus Products, Teri loves to discuss how "The Vellus Philosophy" can help your dog or cat look and feel like a "Best in Show" winner! Teri's passion, commitment, and knowledge work together to continue the dream of providing only the "Best of the Best" grooming formulas, the kind of products Vellus is known for around the world.
