Happy Birthday Freddie 💫✨
77 years ago, a Star was born.
Farrokh Bulsara Born September 5, 1946 on the East African island of Zanzibar at the government hospital and on the Parsi New Years Day. He was a very healthy baby, weighting almost 7 pounds. "He was named Farrokh, which means 'Fortunate and Happy' in Persian and it was a fashionable name at the time," his mother Jer said. He seemed to be destined to be in the public eye practically from birth, after his baby picture won the 'Baby of The Year' contest in March 3, 1947, in Zanzibar, Freddie's hometown. Stealing the show couldn’t start early enough!
This picture was the very first photo taken of Baby Farrokh, at the local Capital Art Studio, where it is still displayed with a couple of more shots, for the people to see. The current owners' father photographed Farrokh just as he documented the rest of the island's Parsi community, a then fair larger group. It shows him as a triumphant, smiling five month old and his mother, Jer Bulsara, gave the original print away to raise money for charity, she said: "Freddie has done more for the world in his short life than many people could do in 100 years".
According to Pliny the Elder, Zarathustra “laughed on the very day of his birth and so did Freddie! He was still laughing when the picture was taken.”
Perhaps this beautiful winning baby picture counts as Freddie Mercury’s first public performance.
Legend 💛🌟
He said, 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐧‘𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫, 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝. That’s exactly what he became. 👑
