This is Bebe's human, Diane, writing this post in sadness. Bebe's big adventure here on earth has ended, but what an adventure it was! She took us to places we had never been before. But she also touched our hearts in ways that have left a big empty spot now that she is on her heavenly adventure. What a travel guide she was! We will try to keep our adventure going without her, but we sure will miss her.

Well, yesterday was a bit different! We drove halfway across Michigan to where Hugh's brother Jim lives, and we plugged our camper into the electricity in their house, and camped right there! We were welcomed by Jim's wife, Marilyn, their grandson, Tommy, and their daughter Stephanie. I decided to just stay safe in the camper, mostly, because 1. with the electricity, it was air-conditioned, and, 2. there were at least 10 cats running around! Diane and Hugh enjoyed talking with everyone, and Marilyn served up a lovely supper, which, after 10 days of camping food, was a welcome respite. After supper when Hugh took me for a walk, I walked into a burr bush, and came out totally covered with burrs. Tonight there are still a lot matted in my long tail, and I have heard that Hugh intends to take the scissors to my tail. OUCH! After a good night's sleep in our camper in their yard, we said goodbye and headed toward Ohio, and home. Streetsboro Ohio KOA tonight, then Pioneer RV Park in Somerset, PA, then HOME. Here are some photos of the bacon wrapped smokies that they tried to cook over an open campfire. That campfire was not made for cooking on (the fire was way down in the fire ring), so they ended up on the stove. See, they tried to wrap some in Bisquick, as well. They say you never know if you don't try.

This is as close as I was allowed to get to a beach, but it sure was a beautiful beach! No big waves, or the sound of waves crashing, which is what Diane associates with a beach, but still a pretty cool beach! Hugh needs go barefoot more often, don't you think? By the way, this is a beach in lovely St. Joseph, MI.

Today I am going to just post photos that show where we went and who we saw today. No comments unless you ask for them. Diane will share this on her timeline. Remember, we are in Michigan!

Yesterday was a relatively short drive, and we were happy that we took I-270 on the outskirts of St. Louis. We don't like driving through cities with the camper! Since the drive was uneventful, I would like to share a typical conversation between Diane and Hugh (please don't let them know I am telling you this). Diane, who is watching Gertie Garman, says, " It is 2 miles to exit 158B, which takes us to I-72". No response from Hugh. Diane says, "Did you hear me?" Hugh replies, "Yes, I heard you." Then the overhead sign comes up, which says the same thing. Diane asks, "Did you see the sign?". Hugh says, "What sign?" By now, Gertie is telling us the exit is imminent. But, we come to exit 158A first, and Hugh says, "Is this the exit?" Diane says, getting much louder, "NO. We want 158B", which, of course, is now right upon us. So now Diane gets louder, saying, "Here", and Hugh yells back, "I know", and after this they do not speak to each other for at least ten minutes. Diane says being the navigator is a very tough job. I wish I could help her! This morning we again will be heading north, toward Chicago, and then to Michigan, where we will stay for three whole days! No long trips in the car for a little while!

A lovely morning for bacon and pancakes, and even a nap, but then Diane decided that we needed to go over to the home of the PIG. That is, her daughter Susan's house (or should I say animal sanctuary?).

It was an absolutely beautiful morning in Eureka, MO. It was so LOVELY and peaceful, and I was being so good NOT barking at the two dogs in the next campsite, and Diane and Hugh were sitting drinking coffee with a cool breeze blowing. Then, suddenly . . . listen, I know what company usually means, but . . . these "companies" . . . some of them were not even as big as I am! AND THEN, and you will not believe it, more people arrived, and they brought . . . wait for it . . . a PIG! Yes, a little squealing PIG! Even a deaf dog could hear that squeal! Half the campground came for a visit to see what was going on. Diane acted as though she was thrilled to be the matriarch of all this clan, though, so I decided to just go with the flow, especially since the flow meant hot dogs and cake pieces falling on the ground. Hugh seemed to love it, since he got to hold a baby most of the afternoon while others were at the pool, or bouncing on the huge pillow. Hugh and I are now recovering with a nap.Whew! What fun this was!

I took them on a 6+ hour drive today, from Anderson, IN, to Eureka, MO. Please, Donald Trump, what happened to your promise to upgrade the infrastructure? The roads were so terrible, we thought the camper might deconstruct! BUT, last night in Anderson, IN, I got to go out with the INDIANA Hanson clan, to a barbecue restaurant. I, of course, could not go inside, but there were outside tables, and I stayed out there and all the humans took turns coming outside to sit with me. It was lovely! Thank you to the Indiana Hansons! Now, let's see how tomorrow goes when Diane's family, including 4 great-grands, all come to the campground! I can't wait!

Even I think this is a bit ridiculous! Can you believe the heat here in the campground in Indiana? And we are shaded by a big sycamore tree. And the thermometer is in the shade. We might as well be in Phoenix! Oh, and this is funny. Diane made a little shopping list for Hugh. When he came back with this CAKE, Diane asked him why in the world he bought a cake. On the list, said Hugh. And he showed her where it said COKE. And we always thought Diane had such good handwriting!

I am not sure that this is going to be an "adventure". I am slowing down a bit, and I think Diane and Hugh may be, too. We are all really glad to get to a campground to relax, but the driving is a bit tedious. Last night we camped at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio. The campsites were HUGE, which was really nice. Here is the view from our site. Then today we enjoyed one of the happenings in the part of the country where the railroads still run. A really long train which stopped all the traffic. Tonight we are at the KOA in Anderson, IN. Oh, by the way, you can see that Diane is not the best photographer . . .

I have them on the road again! Taking them to visit a few special relatives. Yesterday morning I got them up REALLY early, and we headed off to the west. Diane thought the sunrise was gorgeous but the camera did not seem to do it justice.

FINALLY! They say we are going to a Ukelele Soiree. As long as we're going camping, I guess a ukelele soiree is OK.

Another adventure is ended. As evidenced by the pile of laundry in front of the washer and dryer. We are all very happy with our camper; in fact, Diane does not want to put it away for the winter.

Oh, my goodness, this quiet, peaceful, empty campground which we enjoyed for three days is filling up very quickly for the weekend! Glad we are heading home tomorrow. But this is a KOA campground, so we knew this would be the case. The humans took me to Ant Eatem today, and I loved it. If I had thought I was going to have something to eat, it would have had to be corn, because there were cornfields everywhere. It seemed to be the theme. It was so beautiful and peaceful, but Hugh kept telling us about battles and cannons and noise that happened there once upon a time. Didn't seem possible in those beautiful fields and woods. I am going to share all the photos that Diane took; some of them were from a big tower where she climbed lots of stairs. I wanted to go up the stairs, too, but I was happy to stay behind and keep Hugh from feeling lonely.

Diane and Hugh have been talking about ant eatem. Personally, I do not like to eat ants, but they say we are going to ant eatem tomorrow. And that means we are going to stay here at Harpers Ferry for another night, and won't be home until Saturday. OK with me! I will let you know about eating ants after we go to ant eatem.

Good morning from Harpers Ferry! Lovely day. Breakfast wasn't til 10:30! Discovered our campground was once a battlefield, and our area of the campground is surrounded by a civil war trench. Here are the photos that Hugh took yesterday in the Lower Town. See, I DID have ice cream!

I am all tired out! I took them on a walk to the town of Harpers Ferry, and walked them all around town. It was pretty hot, but nice and sunny, and I made sure I was hydrated. Diane took some photos. Hugh did too, but I will post those later.

I am very sad today. My friend Jewel, whose humans are Joe and Joan Griffin, got very sick yesterday. The doctor said he could not make her better, and so she has gone to doggie heaven. Jewel traveled around the country with Joe and Joan, and we all went camping together many times.I don't think Jewel liked me very much, so we never did play much together, but it was fun to know she was right there in their RV. She was an adopted dog, just like me, but she was different because she TOTALLY destroyed her tennis balls and other toys. And she LOVED the water. I don't understand that at all, but that was Jewel. Diane and Hugh are sad, too. Camping will not be the same without Jewel.

Well, we were all set to go to Cape Hatteras a few weeks ago, and you know I love the beach, but then Irma, whoever she is, caused them to cancel the whole trip! But then they decided that we needed one more trip before winter comes, so we are off to Harpers Ferry, WV. Just a short drive, which we ALL like!
