I'm a nutty Italian Greyhound...an 8-pound alpha dog. (ok, I really weigh 10 pounds, but it's water weight, I swear...It's from my medicine, I swear!)
Now, I live in my awesome forever home with MY humans, but it wasn't always this great. I was born in a puppy mill and sold in a crummy pet store. The human who bought me couldn't keep me, so she sold me on Craigslist. I wound up with an awesome
rescue group and had lots of fun there. It's called Rocket Angel Italian Greyhound Rescue (RAIGR). Then, one day, I was adopted into this super great forever home. To be clear, MY humans didn't pick me, I picked them. We do all kinds of cool stuff & go to all kinds of places with new smells! I love sniffing a new smell and then promptly peeing on it! Doesn't that sound fun to you too? Ok, so that's the good...
The bad thing is...I have Evan's Syndrome, which is like IMHA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia) and thrombocytopenia together. My mom thinks it is because of tainted chicken jerky treats from those awful irresponsible companies. You can Google about "tainted chicken jerky dog treats" to read about that. (My humans want me to remind all your humans to give only dog treats made in the USA or Canada with North American ingredients!! No ingredients from overseas...it almost killed me, cost my humans thousands, & left me crippled.) Because of all that, I have full tarsal & carpal collapse so my feet look funny. People stare, so it really sucks. I have super bad arthritis, and cortosteroid induced Cushing's syndrome. I have to wear braces on my paws sometimes. I lost most of my fur, so I love really soft blankets...I have lots of those. I have a whole team of vets in all over the place that work together to help me be the best I can be. My biggest hero is Lil Olive. Check out her page too! I joined Facebook to help her spread the word about Puppy Mills, maybe help some other Iggys find forever homes, and also to help guide humans to healthy, SAFE treats. Oh, and I have a spastic Chihuahua brother named Rudder. He looks like a giant peanut on stilts. Same color and everything. He's really socially awkward and if he knew I was talking about him, he'd go hide under the sofa! He does that a lot. He's a rescue too. My humans say he's super cute...I don't see it at all & have to regularly remind him that I am the Queen.
