I work in a general practice that also provides limited urgent care services. A new client recently mentioned a negative review of the clinic on Yelp. The review was fairly mild, but it sent me down a rabbit hole of reviews on various online platforms and social media sites. Several comments mention...

Finally got to meet up with my friend Dr. Amanda Donnelly in person at a recent conference! We bonded virtually over the book writing process over the past few years and finally were in the same place at the same time. Beyond the writing alone, we both worked hard to make sure our books were practical and full of lots of useable templates and downloads. Practice leaders, if you haven't checked out her book, Leading and Managing Veterinary Teams, I highly recommend it!

Shout out to all the vet techs out there who keep everything running, in the clinic and out. We're honored to have two technicians on our team-- Amy and Emily help our veterinary clients every day! Their clinical backgrounds and experience have been essential for us to support veterinary peeps and to create content that helps us all continue better connect with our clients and pets. Before joining Team TheSocialDVM, did you know.... 🩺Amy, RVT spent 10+ years in clinical practice (even a few with Dr. DeWilde!) and has a special interest in behavior. She's also a nerd for neurology and has experience in mixed animal practice too! She is Fear Free Certified, a rockstar client communicator, and a whiz on social. Having spent several years managing social media AND those damn controlled drug logs in addition to her patient care duties at a busy practice in Missouri, she really can handle it all. This week alone she's managed social media, lead magnet, email marketing and CE course projects on topics in dentistry, veterinary genetics, senior care, preventative meds and more. The full scoop on Amy: https://www.thesocialdvm.com/amy 🩺Emily, CVT comes to us from the land of specialty medicine. She was the Team Lead for the oncology department at a large specialty hospital in Vermont before joining our team. She also is passionate about critical care and anesthesia--don't ask her where that vaccine should go, but if your patient needs chemotherapy for their raging lymphoma or anesthesia run for that penetrating chest wall injury that just walked through the door, she's your girl! These skills translate nicely into managing the million details that go into a big marketing project. You'll often find Emily managing our training programs and client webinars- the latest including Canva camp, parasitology, and mental health support for vets and techs. More about Emily: https://www.thesocialdvm.com/emily No matter what the topic and the project, these two techs can rock

Instant replies are LIFESAVERS--save your staff time, avoid having to type the same thing over and over, and give your clients a better customer service experience. Use Facebook Messenger's Instant Replies to provide automatic responses such as when to expect a response or contact information for the nearest emergency clinic if they contact you after hours, plus many more options. Don't get overwhelmed by alllllll the tabs within insights. Ideally, if you know your practice's objective - the why you're doing social media (be it engagement, page likes, comments, etc) - focus on one or key metrics. Not sure where to start? Check out the posts tab to get a feel for how recent posts stack up - what worked and what didn't - plus an average of what times your page followers are online.
Pro tip: If phones are ringing off the hook at your practice, it's time to change your call to action button to literally anything other than "Call Now". Redirect them with a Book Now, Use App or Send Email button.
Enable the Top Fans for your page so you can easily identify your biggest supporters. I love doing this, and we've started dropping a thank you card in the mail for those who have been Top Fans for more than a month or so. These are the people that are helping your engagement and supporting your business! Celebrate them! 💎 More info: https://buff.ly/3iBt3cl
Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
Hi! I’m Dr. Caitlin DeWilde. I am a small animal veterinarian and founder of The Social DVM. Along with my team, I work with veterinary professionals all over the US and UK to help them use social media to connect with their clients. I am passionate about combatting that jerk Dr. Google, and am a firm believer that we have a huge opportunity and to some degree, a responsibility, to use the internet and social media to educate pet owners. Ultimately, better educated pet owners = healthier pets, and that’s what we all set out to do, right? Keeping that goal and purpose in mind, I work with veterinary teams to help them deliver their message, their education topics, and their practice’s services to their clients, in their own voice. Every practice is different. Every one of them. Showing off what makes your practice different helps you connect with each individual, unique and different client out there, both existing and unique.
Join us here for helpful tips, ideas and tutorials on rocking your practice’s social media and online presence. DVM’s (or VMDs too!) can join our exclusive free community, Social DVM’ers to connect with other social media-loving veterinarians. Keep an eye out for our continuing education webinars and courses like Veterinary Social Media 101, or join Dr. DeWilde at an upcoming lecture.
