Laying a trail.
CPD day mantrailing today, when you get to trail in this beautiful location, were all alone as private woodland.
Decoys
Today saw us mantrailing at a new venue and it offers so much for progressing teams, one of which we will do longer trails there.
Here is a video of one team with multiple decoys walking in opposite direction, just look how close she get to the decoy before changing direction, this was a great example of scent discrimination by following the correct odour.
How awesome were Julie and Romi.

Challenge line up with food distractions and music
We have joined an online challenge, one challenge per week of different subject to do with scentwork over 4 weeks, this was our first challenge, I must admit its not perfect as he didn't throughly check the last few objects enough for my liking, but he had food and chocolates in the line up too.
Snow nose scentwork

Catnip Searching
Where will your training take you?
This is my late Winston many many years ago as i was getting into scentwork, we were using a mouse scented with catnip, this is a active retrieve search.
I held his harness for health and safety so he didnt fall off the table and to help him down so their is less impack on his joints.
But look at him solving the puzzle, problem solving ability and his confidence and focus with the job in hand.
I love watching a dog solve the puzzle and looking for the change of body language to say he's found an odour, if you notice he changed direction suddenly and honed in to one area, from then you see him start to locate and really slowing down as he was getting closer to the target.
Do you think he enjoyed himself? he loved his scentwork and so did my reactive GSD Trixie, it helped her in so many ways.
Please Note: The venue was a private venue so we were allowed in the playground area (local bylaws restrict dogs in public in playgrounds), after this he went on to searching buses and trains, it was such a great days training.
