Hello, I’m Thomas, and I’m hoping you can be my forever purrson! MY SAD BEGINNING: I was brought in from the cold last year by some kind people who noticed me hanging around outside and saw that I was in really bad shape. I’m a long-haired kitty (they think I might be something called a Norwegian Forest Cat!) but my hair was knotted into one big dread on one side. I also had a terrible respiratory
infection and a fever. I had some pretty awful scarring around my neck that the people who took me in think might have been from an embedded collar. Now that my hair’s grown back, you can’t even tell. (The doctor had shaved it all off – they called it a Lion Cut!)
Once I started feeling better (and I am so much better now!) I started trusting people a little more. At first, I didn’t trust ANYONE. Now, I’m positively a love bug! Men are still a little scary to me… but I eventually warm up ☺
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:
• AGE: I am a spry 8-9 year old (as far as anyone can tell – and I never bothered keeping count.)
• APPEARANCE: I sport a black and white tuxedo, and have the longest, silkiest hair that I love to have brushed (it keeps the knots out!) I have two charmingly crumpled ears, either from previous hematomas (?) or maybe I just scratched them too much: I had terrible ear mites when I was first brought inside. The people who have been taking care of me say that I have sad eyes – well, I might have seen some pretty sad stuff, but I have my paws crossed that all of that is behind me!
• PERSONALITY: I was born to be a lapcat, and am a pretty low-key fella. I keep a fastidiously clean litter box. I’ve never puked a hairball, and haven’t been sick since my earlier days! Aside from my gorgeous mane, I’m fairly low maintenance.
• PREFERENCES: I ADORE other kitties. In the perfect world, I would have kitty best friends to share a life with! I’ve never been around dogs, so can’t say how I feel about them one way or the other. I’m thinking that young kids might be too scary for me, since I still startle with quick movements. Some habits are hard to break! WHY I NEED A HOME WITH YOU:
My current people have a lot of other rescue kitties that live in their house. They say, “The more the merrier!” but unfortunately, one of their kitties doesn’t agree. He doesn’t like me very much, and he tries to go after me when he sees me. This is a problem, because I have something called FIV. Since neutered FIV kitties can live just fine with other non-FIV kitties, this wouldn’t be a problem – except FIV kitties shouldn’t get into fights. Me, I’m a lover, not a fighter – which makes it a real shame that the other kitty wants to beat me up whenever he sees me ☹
Because of this situation, I’ve lived all by myself in a lonely room for over a year. It’s no life for a kitty, especially a social guy like myself! I am a quiet guy and you’d hardly even know I was in there… but sometimes I get so lonely that I’ll cry at the door. Mostly because I wish I could hang out in the rest of the house and play with everyone. As it is, I just sit by myself on my cat tree. Not that I’m a complainer, but I’d love a person to sit on so much more than my cat tree! Will you be that person? I promise that, if you take a chance on me, you will never, ever be sorry. xxo Thomas
