We want to start by thanking those who have followed us from the start to those you are new to our community. We hope you have enjoyed watching us grow, and provide a sanctuary for animals in need. We would like to welcome everyone to our new website, www.thehomesteadsanctuary.com . Over the last couple months we have been in the process of expanding into a sanctuary that not only provides a safe and loving home for animals but to also provide health and wellness to people in need too. However, due to unforeseen circumstances we now have a ticking time clock to find, fund, and move our location. Our current space was only a lease and has now been sold to someone else unwilling to lease to us. We have 59 days or less as of today to relocate. We are asking our community, friends, and family to please band together with us in this time of need so we can continue what we have been doing and grow even more. In this CALL TO ACTION every thought, prayer, idea, and support helps. Please share and consider helping. Thank you.

Meet Pigtoria this queens story start when she was sold as a teacup pig to a family living in an apartment. It wasn't long before she grew to large for apartment life. She was then give to a friend that had some land but they didn't have a proper enclosure for pigs. So her and Jim become friends and wonder a lot full of junk cars, and other animal hazardous items. They became very skittish, and wary of people since they didn't have safe shelter or a regular place to eat and drink. They found shelter from the sun under broken down trucks. After a lot of convincing we got them into crates and moved to a pen just for them with a house and a mud pond. Pigtoria now loves eating watermelon from your hand, and splashing in her pond. She is still scared of the hose water spaying near her though. She is a mixed pot belly pig and she loves her pig mates. She enjoys taking long walks in the grass, rooting around the dry creek bed, and getting rubs behind her ears. Please excuse the mud mask but its great for my skin.

Spoiler, I don't know how we could function with safe enclosure for our at risk animals.
Banning all cages could include barn or enclosed shelters and spaces for baby animals.

The idea of banning the use of cages in livestock farming is gaining some traction in various circles. It makes for a catchy headline to spread the idea that all enclosures are inherently bad for animals, but animal health and welfare are actually much more complex.
