If you can foster please give them a call.

We are in crisis with dogs needing rescue. This is the worst I have ever seen it in 19 years doing beagle rescue.
Our fosters are tired. Leadership is tired of trying to find space. Everyone is tired of choosing who we can help and who gets left behind.
We need more fosters... for puppies especially, but also adults.
If you have every thought about fostering, even just one time and are in the KC or Omaha area PLEASE reach out. Our hearts are breaking not being able to help them all.
IF INTERESTED IN FOSTERING, PLEASE FILL OUT THE FOSTER APPLICATION AT https://www.bassetandbeagle.org/fostering/

Well Winston and Rip had to go to the vet this morning. Neither one was thrilled but they both were brave and got through it ok. Winston developed a rash on his muzzle that got infected and spread quickly. So a couple of shots, some antibiotics for 10 days and ointment the pediatrician thinks should fix him right up
Rip hadn't been eating like normal for the last week and not really as rambunctious as he usually is. Then decided to stop eating Monday night. So I made him a home cooked special breakfast this morning and he wouldn't eat. So he earned a trip to the vet too. His temp was good, took some blood and did an exam. So he got a shot and some meds to help settle his tummy. Doc said he's been seeing alot of this the last month because of the heat and humidity here. He ate his dinner tonight but I could tell he still isn't feeling good. Both have follow up appointments in 10 days. Poor lil guys

Sorry folks. I've so busy wth the new addition I'm building and running back and forth to the vets with sick pups that I've neglected to thank those responsible for sending the dog food and treats. Unfortunately no names have been included wth the bags of dog food. We recieved 3 bags of Diamond Naturals also.
So thank you all very very much. You'll never know how much we appreciate your generosity and support. Brett

So I'm running around this morning looking for Tucker to come in for breakfast because he didn't show up. Called for him probably 10 times and he didn't respond. Never dawned on me to look in my bedroom . Well, the lil monster must of snuck in when I got up this morning. This is how I found him and he wasn't about to get up.

Well it's been one heck of a week here at the Corgwyn Rehabilitation Sanctuary . We lost Callie Marie last Wed night. Last Friday morning Flappy came in before breakfast bleeding profusely from his right back leg. Ran to the vet , an hour away, and he had a pinhole puncture that nicked a small vein. One Stitch and and 10 days of antibiotics. Friday night I was petting Sage and found a large open sore right in front of her right rear leg.... back to the ER. Turned out to be a large cist that had burst. 5 days of antibiotics and then back for surgery this morning to remove the rest of the cist, clean it all up and stitches. More antibiotics and no playing for a few days. She is not amused.... but we're home, I picked up our Callie Marie's ashes so she's home too. Now it's time to feed everyone, clean up and go to bed..... please lord give us a break for few days. We need to breath..... thank everyone for all the support and encouragement you continue to provide. I know I'm not the greatest communicator and I get busy and forget to update and thank everyone. Thank you for sticking by us....

I was trying to explain how much these lil guys help get through tough times like losing Callie Marie, and all the others that have moved on to the Rainbow Bridge before her.
These lil guys are pure love and depend on me to stay strong for them. They know we've lost a part of our family and try to help by being loving, silly and fun.
Love on your pups today because you never know when it's going to be your last pet or excited bark.

I regret to announce that we lost our Callie Marie Wednesday night. I just couldn't deal with it yesterday and I had to take a minute to breath. Callie was a very special lil girl that had overcome so many hurdles. Callie came to us with her son Juggalo 6 years ago. They were breeder dogs and were in pretty bad shape physically and emotionally. We had all they're medical needs addressed and began socializing them so they would understand love and being just normal dogs. Once they relaxed they both learned they were safe and their personalities real stated to come out. Callie took the lead and became a cuddlebug and boisterous when wanting attention and playing. Juggalo son followed his mommas lead and he became more confident. They made friends and thrived.
In March of this year Callie became sick and her Genetic disorder progressed also. I took her to 3 different vets and had multitudes of different tests done. Finally, in June, the doctor at Anamosa Veterinary Hospital with the help of a cardiologist was able to diagnosis her heart problems and begin treatment.
The treatment was working and she began to get better but he genetic disorder was causing her to go blind. So she was learning to navigate with sound and shadows.
I could go on and on about how special and the fighter Callie was. I loved Callie Marie more than I can express and the pain of her being gone is overwhelming right now. Our very special lil girl is gone
Callie Marie I love you and will forever miss you till I get to see you and the others at the bridge one day. Rest easy my beautiful lil girl.

Making headway on the corgwyn addition. Plumbing is done, took me 4 days to do what should have been maybe 2 days max, and final grading is almost done. Hoping for decent weather and no rain by Thursday so we can pour and finish concrete.... I'm hot, tired and OLD ! I use to be able to this stuff all day everyday. Not anymore.

Fast Eddie… aka Dodger’s doppelgänger.

I found CRS when my corgi Dodger was dealing with DM. I was looking for wheels and debating what to get and reached out to Brett. He talked with me a few times and sent some videos to me on what worked and didn’t work for him in the past and gave me advice on the disease process. Unfortunately, but as expected, Dodger lost his battle with DM. I drove out and donated Dodger’s wheels and some supplies to Brett/CRS.

I was heartbroken by my loss…and here comes Eddie!! He was one of the first dogs I met at CRS. I was stunned how much he looked like Dodger. While Eddie has a much different personality than my Dodger did, seeing Eddie melts my heart…everytime.

Eddie is a doll, LOVES attention, but excitable and somewhat anxious. I’ve learned to wear my old glasses in case they get knocked around as he is beside himself happy and jumping around 😊.

Grooming day pics of Eddie and old pics of my Dodger. 🥰
