We use as many recycled or reclaimed raw materials as possible in our products. This includes our steel which is made from at least 50% recycled scrap steel, our packaging which uses recycled post consumer content corrugated board, our catalogs which are printed on recycled paper, and our animal bedding products which are made from reclaimed paper pulp. Factory Design:
The factory roof was replaced with a 20,000 sq. Cool roofs are highly reflective, highly emissive roofing materials that stay 50 to 60 degrees F cooler than a normal roof under a hot summer sun. Because cool roofs gain less heat than normal roofs, they reduce the demand on air conditioning, making buildings more comfortable to the people inside and provide cost savings to the company. Cool roofs can help to reduce the urban heat island effect that makes our cities hotter and produces unhealthy air. Factory Interior Lighting:
Our roof was equipped with high light-emitting parabolic sky lights which provide over 70% of ambient lighting in production and warehouse areas. In production, shipping and warehouse bays, our old stadium style metal halide lights were replaced with 8-bulb, high energy efficient T-5 fluorescent high-bay fixtures. Light switches in bathrooms, break rooms and conference rooms have been retrofitted with motion sensors. Our tonnage air conditioner units have been recharged with environmentally friendly refrigerants. Factory Landscape, Forrester Creek:
Company enrolled in a program to utilize reclaimed water for irrigation of approximately 1 acre of landscape areas. Company has an established storm water pollution prevention program with personnel trained in best management practices around property. Company personnel volunteers annually to help clean up nearby Forrester Creek. Administration:
Company instituted an online personnel recruitment, screening, and interview process which saves fuel cost for prospective applicants and reduces local traffic. Vendors are encouraged to participate in our paperless document system to reduce paper waste. Recycling:

Steel, Aluminum, Cardboard, Paper, Plastic Wrap, Aluminum Cans, PET Containers, Copper and Brass, and Wood Pallets are sorted, binned and recycled.
