Ioreksons Venemous "Mous" (pronounced Moose) learning that sitting gets rewarded and jumping up does not. Note that he was not told to "sit" verbally. He actually hasn't been taught the word, yet. He is learning that to gain my attention he must choose the sit on his own. He must maintain self control and offer the behavior on his own. I've noted over the years that puppies that are taught from a young that that they must choose to offer the behavior of "sit" instead of being TOLD to sit to gain reward develop into adults that jump less on people. It isn't 100% (is anything in dogs??), though it's a great beginning.
This session and more like it will lead to him learning to sit on command.
Stay tuned for more videos of our V-Litter pups still at the house.
They are insistent it isn't bedtime.
V-Litter puppy pile!
They are already self rotating. Weights will be taken in the morning and if supplementing is necessary, will begin then. They do typically lose a little the first 24 hours, so I expect to see that, but with them already self rotating I am hopeful not everyone will have lost.
Stay tuned.....
We are getting closer and closer to meeting our V-Litter.
Can you count them??
She's loaded 😳
V-Litter Update!
Kodi has an official confirmation of pregnancy!
6 puppies were counted within less than one minute.. It wasn't an in depth scan, just a "confirmation." We plan to get her x-ray when that time comes for a proper count (to ensure we know if she is in trouble during labor). The overall concensus is "she's loaded" and possibly has 10+ puppies.
She's due around April 25, 2023
We don't accept holding fees until pups are two weeks old, though feel free to message us to get on our wait list to be contacted when they're born.
First two female picks and first pick male are spoken for at this time.
Atti-tude Update
He completed his IV fluids and antibiotics. He's been drinking water and a small amount of food was reintroduced (along with oral medications). He hasn't passed a bowel movement since everything happened, though I suspect that will occur tomorrow or maybe Friday.
On other news, we had some rabbits born the other day. They are the most precious sight and the video may be a good pick me up video for those that may need it.
Ioreksons Quirrelly "Atti-tude" enjoying "two ball" with one of our girls. She really wants to be a dog trainer (and veterinarian and fire fighter), so she loves this type of interaction with the dogs. They enjoy it too!
Our morning routine consists of this..
Every morning.. outside, or inside..
Note the child who joined in. 🤣
After less than 5 minutes, it's all about the bones again.
8 dogs in the living room and this is all I hear..
Anyone that has a dog should be able to identify the sound 😁 I'm thankful we have the ability to get enough of the bones for everyone. In another few months I'll be needing to cook up another batch of them!
Thankfully we have a large enough house and enough dog beds for times like this. We have a crate for everyone and certain mini packs come out together. Some of our dogs just don't like each other, and there is no harm in that. I don't like every human I meet and I definitely wouldn't want to share my personal space with them. So, we don't ask them to do so. At the same time, they must respect each other when they do meet in passing. I've had one b**** fight in all the time I've had German Shepherds and I don't plan for another.. They let us know when their personalities clash, and we respect them for it.
We hope everyone is staying warm!
Mya, third training session on not leaving the crate without permission.
Back to the basics, Mya learning to go in the crate. The eventual goal, she is commanded to go in and she'll happily run in - even if she's across the room or house.
This girl, who we are calling Mya, came back to us today for low self control and chewing.
This was our second session working on self control leaving the crate (I didn't think to record the first). In the first session we worked on my approaching only if she was sitting.
This session we worked on not leaving the barrier of the crate door opening without verbal release. I use "sehr gut" which is German for "excellent" as my release word.
She is a soft dog, offering submissive body language and calming signals throughout the entire session. She did well. Stay tuned for another video soon!
We aren't sure the plans for her, though she may be on the look for another set of kids to love on. We want to ensure we know her again and find the perfect forever placement.

Ioreksons Afis turns 9 years old this year (in October). She has some minor arthritis, moves slow some days, but still knows her stuff and loves doing it.
Big Daddy Iorek enjoying the WARMER temps this morning.
And yes, the Border Collie stole horse poop. Lol
15° temps and the pups still wanna play fetch. So, you start the fire pit and throw away!!
Happy New Year!!
