*Adoptable Cat Couple of the Month*

Allow me to introduce you to the most handsome and masculine Kringle. Kringle is definitely a ladies man but is so easy going he gets along with all the cool cats and new comers to the block. His sidekick Peanut is a bit of whipper snapper...she starts out on the shy side but warms up quickly. These two love birds both had tough starts out on the streets but we're both rescued within a month of each other and have blossomed into beautiful sweet loving cats. These two beautifully colored swirled tabbies would be a great addition especially if you want to bypass the introduction of cats to each other. These lovebirds are way past that stage they are inseparable and Kringle is Peanuts protector and best bud.

We are in need of loving homes for: Pregnant or nursing momma cats (and their babies) · Kittens · Orphaned kittens which may or may not need to be “bottle-fed” ** A “pet-free” home is not necessarily a requirement for fostering cats from Rebels Rescue, but we do ask that any resident pets be “cat-friendly”!

Meet our newest rescue, King! 👑 This sweet, handsome, 3-year-old hound was out of time at the local shelter and scheduled for euthanasia on 1/28. Thanks to a wonderful & kind-hearted community member who stepped up to foster King, we were able to pull him before his deadline and give him the 2nd chance he deserves! 💕 Now safe in a foster home, King is very relaxed, walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. He's such a good boy! King will be available for adoption through our organization soon!

Bagheera’s Glow-Up Update! ✨

Our big guy is channeling some serious Y2K vibes with his spiky “do” today—just kidding! 😹 That stylish look is thanks to a little coconut oil treatment to help his dry skin stay soft and healthy.

Now for the good stuff: an update on Bagheera’s health journey!
🩺 Great news! His bloodwork from last week's follow-up shows significant improvement, and he’s on a fantastic road to recovery! We’re thrilled his appetite has returned after he stopped eating earlier this month. While he’s gained a pound (oops!), it’s a relief to see him eating again. With his health stabilizing, we can now focus on his diet instead of intensive supportive care.

❤️ Bagheera is still battling anemia, but he’s receiving vitamins to help. The best part? His kidney values have improved so much that he no longer needs supportive fluids—no more needles for this brave boy! 🎉

🐾 Giving Bagheera the care he needed wasn’t an easy decision due to the high costs, but we couldn’t give up on him. Every dollar spent was worth it to give him a second chance.

We’ve set a fundraising goal of $4,000 to cover Bagheera’s medical expenses, which include:
💉 GoodVets: Comprehensive exams, chem panels, urinalysis, ultrasound, IV catheter, and radiographs.

🏥 VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group): Hospitalization, fluids, medications (antibiotics, pain relief, appetite stimulants, and more), feeding tube, urinary catheter, radiographs, and bloodwork.
🐾 HSTB (Humane Society of Tampa Bay): Follow-up bloodwork, chem panels, and supportive care.

💔 Bagheera’s Backstory:
Bagheera's owner had been displaced from her home and, for the past 2 years, lived in a friend’s garage. She could no longer provide the environment her beloved cats, Bagheera and his adopted brother Giovanni, deserved.

For a while, a friend stepped in to care for the cats, but when that support was no longer viable, she urgently sought assistance. Though it was a heartbreaking decision, she entrusted her fur babies to us, hoping to give them a better life. With a heavy heart, she let them go—and we graciously took them both in.

📉 Bagheera’s Emergency:
Earlier this month, Bagheera grew lethargic and required immediate medical attention. What started as a routine vet visit turned into a 72-hour hospitalization to save his life.

🔬 Diagnosis: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) complicated by a rare urinary tract infection (UTI).
Cats are masters at hiding illness, and Bagheera’s CKD likely would have gone unnoticed if it weren’t for the UTI. Unfortunately, his obesity played a direct role in this: overweight cats often struggle to groom themselves properly, leading to unhygienic conditions. In Bagheera’s case, this caused the UTI that traveled to his already-compromised kidneys.

⛑️ The Treatment:
Bagheera’s kidneys couldn’t filter toxins effectively, leading to severe anemia, dangerous sodium levels, and the imminent threat of sepsis. Thanks to the amazing veterinary team at VEG, Bagheera received intensive, life-saving care, including:

Specialized fluids
Multiple antibiotics
A feeding tube
Frequent kidney value monitoring
Assorted medications

After 72 hours of treatment, Bagheera was stable enough to leave the hospital and transfer to a cozy, loving foster home where his recovery continues.

❤️ The Road Ahead:
Bagheera’s foster mom has been working tirelessly to help him regain his health. His treatment plan includes:

Subcutaneous fluids
Oral medications
A specialized diet to support weight loss and kidney function

His two-week follow-up bloodwork is pending, but we’re hopeful that this sweet boy is on the road to recovery.
