We partner with shelters and the community to save animals in need.

Rebels Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)3 animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets in Hillsborough County and the Greater Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to end unnecessary euthanasia by pulling the highest risk pets from the county's high-kill shelter and placing them in our foster homes where they will receive the love, attention and care they deserve while they await adoption. All

pets receive appropriate vet care in addition to being spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to becoming available for adoption. We host bi-weekly adoption events at Pet Supermarket in South Tampa and a monthly Cats, Crystals & Crafts event the 3rd Sunday of every month at Southern Brewing in Seminole Heights. 🎄🐾 A Very Merry Alvin Castleberry Holiday Fundraiser! 🐾🎄

This holiday season, we’re rallying around an extraordinary hero—Alvin Castleberry—and his clowder of beloved rescue cats. If you’ve met Alvin at one of our adoption events, you know him as the kind-hearted soul with a cat or dog always curled up on his lap. But his journey is nothing short of inspiring.

Diagnosed with glaucoma in 2007 and cancer in 2014, Alvin found renewed purpose through rescuing and rehabilitating homeless cats, starting with Jazzy, an abandoned kitten who became his lifeline. Over the years, Alvin has tirelessly cared for countless strays, ensuring they are spayed, neutered, and adopted into loving homes.

Despite being visually impaired and living on a fixed income, Alvin continues to care for his cats with unwavering love and resourcefulness while rescuing all who venture his way. Now, he needs our help. A recent rent increase has made it harder for Alvin to provide for his cats and continue his rescue work.

Too cute not to share 💕 This is a gift list our volunteer's 8-year-old daughter had her write down for her Santa Secret Shop today. She asked her 'Who in your family would you like to shop for?' Who came to mind after mom and dad?! Their foster dog Big Billy, their foster kittens, the family cat Meelo, and Harriet the furever foster. This girl's clearly got her priorities straight! 😻

Bonnie Parker's Visit to the Eye Doctor

Bonnie Parker had so much fun visiting Dr. Fife at Eye Care for Animals - Tampa, FL yesterday for her follow-up 💓 The inflammation of her left eye is resolved! Woo! However, the pressure in her left eye is still low indicating subclinical uveitis is still present 😞 She will be receiving eye drops to see if this may resolve the condition and will follow-up again with her doctor in a month. Sometimes all it takes is a ball in a box for hours of entertainment 😹 Dennis the "gingermeez" is available for adoption through Rebels Rescue on our website! ❤️

Ever wondered what a cat's tail looks like without fur?! The little kitten we snatched up a couple weeks ago has kept us on our toes! The tip of her tail was dead when we got her. Today, we dropped her off for spay surgery and not only did she get fixed, but she also had the tip of her tail amputated! 😱 She is currently on antibiotics and pain meds and receiving some extra love and care tonight! She will be available for adoption soon she yes the hair will grow back :) Though we think she's just as beautiful as ever with a rat tail 😹 P.S. We named her Cecelia ♥️♥️♥️

Look who's strong enough to leave the incubator for some play time?!

Little miss Lila!! 😻 Just a week ago today she came to us with an abscess, pneumonia, and nearly paralyzed! She had no use of her legs and could just barely lift her head. After a vet visit and lots of intensive care, Lila is slowly getting her spunk back! Look who graduated from the incubator yesterday and was up and about checking out her new penthouse last night! ❤️ Bonnie Parker was nearly lifeless last week. She was too weak to even stand to eat. A week later and she has doubled in weight, willingly eats full meals, and is learning to play 🙌 She even meows and chirps for affection. Her quick turnaround has us blown away and her progress continues to amaze us every day! P.S. we did add a ramp to the shelf for her after the video :) She's very curious about the multi-levels, but hasn't found the confidence yet to climb around. We don't doubt she'll be jumping and climbing all over her enclosure any day now!

Why don't we have better photos of Bear?! Because he loves attention and pets! He can't help himself! As soon as he catches you looking in his direction, he pops up and rushes over for some love! ❤️

Rescue~Foster~Adopt~SAVE A LIFE

Rebels Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization dedicated to facilitate the rescue of and find new homes for stray, abandoned, neglected, abused, and surrendered animals at the high kill shelters in the Tampa Bay and surrounding area. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER but a foster based rescue group. Rebels Rescue animals are placed with foster families. These families are Rebels volunteers who generously open their homes to animals in need. Rebels animals are provided with all necessary veterinary care. They are checked for internal parasites, fleas, and ear mites, then given treatments and immunizations as required. Cats and kittens are checked for feline leukemia and FIV, dogs and puppies are checked for heartworm, and all animals are treated accordingly.
